    Thanks for the advice Dave but the reason for the sr would be because can get a good reliable 300 bhp, with simple mods and a map. Parts are simply got aswell.
    Like i have said tho, For now its staying standard, will look into things more in the future.

    fairly big job to fit an sr into on of these if i remember correctly . you need a custom sump etc . nice work so far

    Yeah I know what you mean about the sr. There's a crowd in new zealand or australia that make the custom sumps and mount so you can drop it in but it is pricey. Im on the phone at the minuted but I've it bookmarked at home I'll post it up later.

    I dont think its worth the hassle personally, I'd rather sit with 250bhp on the 1.6. Its a lot of money!

    Didnt realize How expensive the sump etc is! Thanks for those links tho! There is a HKS turbo kit for sale on donedeal at the moment for 1400 which looks great...

    My coilovers arrived yesterday, so will get them fitted tomorrow night hopefully, get the car sitting and running at the right height, will post pics over the weekend.

    Yeah I would go for that and a megasquirt pnp, rx7 injectors(if needed), and away you go!

    I'm looking at similar options for more power on my own and looking at Miata turbo, a lot of people were saying for them in America it works out a lot cheaper to build a forged 1.8 sv-t engine and turbo it with a 6 speed box than getting a reliable 300bhp from the sr, which is pretty ridiculous!

    Best of luck with it anyway, your certainly heading down the right path!

    I looked into SR route a good bit when I was building my one. There is alot of work involved. The sump, engine mounts, The diff braces to the gearbox too, something would have to be done with that.

    In the end I went down the turbo route, easy enough to get 240 out of a standard 1.6
    And you would be surprised how quick 200+ bhp in an mx5 is. No need to go much higher than that really!

    Cheers, i wanted to buy your one last year ha! If i am going the turbo route, it wont be for some time, and if i do i will prob give you a bell. Thanks again lads. Much appreciated
