Impossible to manage the power/mod thing aswell, as too many ways around it, unless you inspect every car in a parc ferme situation, which ramps up the money alot too.

So imo its just not feasible really, and more importantly strange and mad cars are also what makes drifiting interesting over some other motorsports. Limit ppls imaginations and I think the sport would be ruined tbh....
Nah I didn't mean a big series like, just something like a class of them! It would be all down to driving which I think would be cool. sure well make an mx5 only series

Sounds like a good idea for people starting off, but maybe there should be a limit to the power or something.

Everyone seems to be jumping down Joe's neck, if Prodrift were running with the bolt-in cages before how bad can it be to keep going. The likely hood is that if you are going mental on track with high power you're serious enough to already have the adequate safety equipment. Well you should be.

    Just my 2c..

In a mx5 only comp I'd predict atleast 1 death per round.....all due to suicide lol!!

A level playing field would be great in a way to see who is the best driver, but the "best" drivers in this country wouldnt be in it, as they'd still be Pros in Prodrift, so you're still not gonna be able to prove too much.

TBH I dont really see the problem. For example Nick Quelys car is for sale for 6kish. Thats proven as a good enough car to compete against the Pros for example. At the end of the day, running or entry costs arent gonna be much different, so if ppl cant afford the once off cost or an extra what E300 for a weld in cage?, well then thye cant afford to enter realistically anyway.

Prodrift has been very good this year due to fast entries, loads of walls etc, and hopefully next year theres more walls, more speed, and ultimately more of a thrill! Its what I'm in it for afterall, and for that sort of thing you cant skimp on safety.

Brian I'm talkin about small tracks like portlaoise and balbriggan, not fast entry tracks like punchestown and mondello

The portlaoise comp worked very well, and balbriggan would be brilliant for a little comp, and I even heard rumours of similar ideas anyway. They could be run with no cage, no fireproofing or whatever the organisers decided. But is it legal really? No not at all I'm pretty sure. Which is why it doesnt work as a series with sponsors, websites, spectators, advertising, insurance etc. Doesnt mean it cant happen, but the likes of prodrift certainly wont be doing it, and its more up to the land owners to take the risk and hope for the best I suppose......

Who mentioned anything about sponsors? This will be done for fun It could be a friendly comp between loads of people. Say for example there was 4 rounds, and let's say the portlaoise competition was the first round, Darren Coss would be 1st, Yowdy would be 2nd and so on. Ya get me now?
