    Lightbulb Street legal drift comp

    Well lads,

With the new rules of PD coming in next year competition drifting is going to get quite expensive with the likes of bolt in cages getting banned. What would people think of the idea of a street legal drift competition. It could fall along the lines of the rules of driftjam (minimum half cage, extinguisher, seat, harness) and it would be more affordable for people who would like to compete but don't fancy the idea of fully jutting their car out into a track car??

The competition could be done like the way portlaoise was organised, not for drifting to be done on a road which is what some people think I mean. It could be heald in balbriggan, however iv never been there and I don't know if the track would be suitable or if the lads would agree to it.

    Watcha think??

Its only going to be a once off price off a weld in cage?fee's besides that will be as they always were.....Street legal drifting?impossible to get the all clear from the council or authorities, insurence, jugdeing would be very hard as they would have to see ever bit off the road,in ireland thats difficult cause the roads are like snakes.....Good idea in theory but very hard to get something like that working,it would take alot off organisation!it would be preety cool.It would be a first for ireland and maybe world wide???in theory its good but in reality its ridiculouse!

Thats the craic she said with one leg on the dash and nothing on but the radio............

I think the funnest thing or the best new direction for fun/proper competitive drifting would be a one make series with limited mods/power, thatd be awesometron to watch/compete in

but it will never happen. bleugh

There is a place where road drifting takes place on a run what you brung basis, a series of intertwining roundabouts orbiting one large one, they call it "the ballymac" where upon approaching it you're often met by sliding bmws, nissans and even the odd 306, van or truck! Videos can be seen on YouTube...

very good idea if you know the way to go about getting it.
its getting americanised ,drifting is gone all about money now and horses instead of having fun imo .the average fella trying to get on a track is very hard because of location and price...and the rest.
if you can get an event like this it should go well
