    Lightbulb Street legal drift comp

    Well lads,

With the new rules of PD coming in next year competition drifting is going to get quite expensive with the likes of bolt in cages getting banned. What would people think of the idea of a street legal drift competition. It could fall along the lines of the rules of driftjam (minimum half cage, extinguisher, seat, harness) and it would be more affordable for people who would like to compete but don't fancy the idea of fully jutting their car out into a track car??

The competition could be done like the way portlaoise was organised, not for drifting to be done on a road which is what some people think I mean. It could be heald in balbriggan, however iv never been there and I don't know if the track would be suitable or if the lads would agree to it.

    Watcha think??

Its only going to be a once off price off a weld in cage?fee's besides that will be as they always were.....Street legal drifting?impossible to get the all clear from the council or authorities, insurence, jugdeing would be very hard as they would have to see ever bit off the road,in ireland thats difficult cause the roads are like snakes.....Good idea in theory but very hard to get something like that working,it would take alot off organisation!it would be preety cool.It would be a first for ireland and maybe world wide???in theory its good but in reality its ridiculouse!

Thats the craic she said with one leg on the dash and nothing on but the radio............

from what i read there joe what you are saying this would be a great idea for people who want to go out on a track and drift at high speeds with absolutly no safety gear in the car???? pd rules are very very small and are there for safety not to make it dear basicly you have to have the inside of the car stripped out incase your car happens to go on fire which happens quite often imajine haveing carpets and stock seats to catch fire that would spread very quick!! a roll cage is quite self explaitory but lets face it in a propper crash any bolt in dash doger cage is going to do as much to save you as a strut brace will nothing!! propper set bucket seat again safety if you go off into something backwards it is not going to calapse and leave you lieing in the back seat with a broken neck,

so it will not work joe simple as we are in ireland we have 1!!! track we would all love to live in japan ware they have lots of diffrant tracks and car classes but we dont

very good idea if you know the way to go about getting it.
its getting americanised ,drifting is gone all about money now and horses instead of having fun imo .the average fella trying to get on a track is very hard because of location and price...and the rest.
if you can get an event like this it should go well

What about street legal rallying aswell, would bring down the costs alot. You could be on a winner here Joe.....

Agree with gem ,even though the new rules effect me.
You can do a few practice days without a cage + if it's for you invest in a cage etc.

It's still about the fun ,plenty of banter goes on between drivers before the start line

I'd love to see a road course drifting event
