    Surely there isnt much to go wrong with the distributer itself though bar the timing bien off?

    worn teeth, rotar tip been worn causeing misfire at high revs...

    cause they rev so high and up irish feckers love the sound of a screaming 4age i think you`ll find we can break almost ever part of a 4age engine

    Check all the vacuum pipes as if there is any pinholes it could run like shite. They could be worn down I had similar problem

    As a matter if interest what did you clean the plugs with?I hope you didn't use a wire brush on the iridium tips

    And yup bien used to an sr20 im really having to drive the balls of this

    there was one that looked kinda perished and i changed it, no difference though

    Ermm ya used a wire brush iv new ones on the way though

    getting loan of a timing light there later too, so should hopefully have timing set right this evening

    sorted the timing today, didnt make a whole pile of difference

    I got a spare engine with the car and a load of other bits just have to pick it all up yet,
    hopefully there is a dizzy on the other engine to try

    sounds like something electrial breaking down under load... Coil, plug leads, new plugs, connections on tb sensors, broken or damages wires making bad connection
