    Default My 180sx, project ebay!

Well all! As a good few would know I had an 320i e36 bmw for about 3 years that ended up with M3 running gear, 4.1 diff, coilovers, extra lock etc by the time I was finished with it. In the end boredom took over and I decided to sell.
    Build thread here http://www.driftireland.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1125

So had a tight budget and not many cars tuned up but saw sil8094 had this for sale, was down in Waterford and had a look and after a long trip as had to come back to Kildare for a transporter I got it home!

Spec was fairly basic, welded diff, rear stipped out, leaking coilovers, leaking front mount but the car itself was solid! Calling it project ebay for my love of online shopping!

First job was to replace the big end and main bearings for peace of mind. bought the bearings off Westward Engineering and wayne.c on here did the job once I had the engine out. When the engine was out I discovered the car had a 4 puck paddle clutch so that saved on one job! Also changed all turbo gaskets and removed excess vacuum valve things!

Removed all sound deadening and fitted a bolt in cage after painting it light blue.

Fitted red stuff pads and hydraulic handbrake off ebay, has a locking system which comes in handy! Works perfect! http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/motoraptor2010

Swapped rear coilovers for a pair of s14 camber arms with a lad on here and also changed all my arms for adjustable arms off ebay. This is a link to the seller http://myworld.ebay.ie/1stcarparts
Brought the car to WKD for setting up. Quality seems good but when Wez was setting the car up he said they are harder to set up than the likes of the driftworks ones.

Bought oil pressure and water temperature gauges on ebay with the fitting kit, the oil sandwich plate started leaking after 2 dats out so I removed that and am thinking of a sump plug sensor fitting.

Then I got the kit fixed up by some local lads, could do with replacing the kit really as its full of fillers now! Got it out for the day the fist time Tynagh was run but it was boosting very late so unless it was raining the car wasn't up to much!

So got home and tried to figure out what was up and discovered most of the intercooler hoses and the core were leaking so replaced the hoses with auto silicone hoses ones with new clamps www.autosiliconehoses.com Very heavy duty goods and seal up perfect. Also got a straight pipe to replace the blow off valve. They are also traders on ebay!

Bought an intercooler core on ebay off toyosports, http://myworld.ebay.ie/tuningpartsbay Absolutly massive core! 4inch thick and after 2 days out hasn't given any trouble. Very impressed for the money!

Bought locking collars second hand on ebay for about 20euro so have them fitted now aswell.

Turbo gave up on my second day out so got one off gary d on here. Decided that I was in so deep that I might aswell go shopping on driftworks and 2 days later these arrived.

Rad is a great fit and didn't have to cut any of my cowling or anything for it to fit, had a half day of driving in Mondello and the temperature gauge never went abouve 90degrees with the standard viscous fan with cowling.

Sytec fuel pump and regulator do what they're supposed to do, very good instructions included, and the exhaust hangers and very stiff, stop the exhaust banging around.

The week before Mondello the car developed a really bad missfire and investigation pointed to 3 cracked coilpacks and a melted coilpack amp! Got on here and found Danny O'Sullivan was selling them and also a sparco gearknob, arrived very quick and cured my problem. To stop the amp melting again I bought heat shield blanket on ebay and it worked perfectly for covering anything near the exhaust side of the car. http://myworld.ebay.ie/scrollob

    Random pics

    So plans now are
    Full exhaust system
    Underseal car
    T28 turbo, z32 afm and 550 injectors
Decent set of coilovers when money allows
    Welded 4.1 or 4.3
    Maybe new kit and respray

Thanks lads. Found this in my travels http://www.ebay.ie/itm/370668179443?...84.m1423.l2649 Think it would do the job! No harm in trying ebay bits, just have to keep an eye on them, like with the plate leaking wasn't the end of the world!

Are the pics in this massive? I'm on a netbook so can't tell if its just the small screen? If they are massive whats the best size in photobucket for this site?

Thanks, in fairness to you it's a good base to start on. Well worth driving up and down the country! I tried keeping it as a budget build but that was never going to work out! Did you get another car after?

Your givin away the secrets were to buy all parts that some one we no buy s all the parts and make out there big importers

Good job any ways man she s lookin sweet and if I see on ur spec list u have skyline brakes and rb25 gear box ill be gettin worried about my yoke down there on blocks

The subframe bushes were hanging out of the car, as were the wishbone bushes, the pick and mix of coilovers knocked like a song by guns and roses,The respray was the roughest I'd seen since Stevie Wonder Autobody closed down and the front panels had gaps as straight as turn 2 at mondello, Yeah,Straight car I'd say!
