Just make sure the new box has good seals in it !!!!
i have a gearbox here
Never knew there was someone here that specialised in rebuilding gearboxes (and was actually good at their job). Thanks for the recommendation!
Yeah, thankfully I learned from my mistakes.. For the sake of spending a few quid on new seals they are worth replacing regardless. It was soul destroying having to change that gearbox and clutch again...
Was the third time in 2/3 months :-(
Great!
What condition is it in? Mileage, power of the car it was in etc? Price?
If you don't mind me asking. Why would you swap a (as you say yourself) working fine gearbox for no real reason? unless your running huge power and doing loads of track days/drag runs a std gtr box should hold up fine as long as its well looked after/oil changed regularly. If you are planning on big power maybe get your own gearbox rebuilt with stronger internal's

not having a dig at ya or anything just genuinely intrested
Completely valid question.
To be honest I can't really validate it, the current gearbox has always had a problem with synchromash when shifting up/down to 4th... After her last trackday the problem has progressed to 3rd and 5th... I just feel as if repairing/replacing the problem/box now will make the car perfect as it's one of the last things I have to worry about with the cat.
I didn't know there was people here who could (properly) rebuild a gearbox so that's an option I will look into a bit further now and the current box is overdue an oil change. it's been run on standard oil all its life but I got some Redline Heavy synthetic oil to replace all the diff and gearbox oil so there is even a possibility that will resolve the issue as it's almost triple the viscosity of the standard oil.
You worry too much dude, ps drop crazypotato a pm, he might be able to help
