any oil you buy now has to have stated the standards its manufactured to. go look at the back of a gallon of 15w50 and therell b no technical specs written on it, then look at the back of a gallon of castrol or duckhams, and unless its ancient itll have the specs on it. they changed the regulations the oil has to be made to, and instead of changing the 15w50 to meet the new regs, there just bringing out the 10w60 instead, as it is applicable for a wider range of cars!
this is what we wer told by the comma dude anyway!

So youre talking about acea standards then? Ive never actually looked to see on the back of 15w 50 to see if there were any. If thats the case then only retailers will not be able to supply the oil but you will still be able to buy it from mobil as a business . I can check on tuesday with mobil and see what they say

I can't find any stats on the bardahl from their website.
    Mobils is here
    http://www.mobil.com/USA-English/Lub...l1_15W-50.aspx

How can one compare these oils if Bardahl aint publishing the stats. "My engine didn't blow up?? Must be good oil.. so".

All these oils have to conform to standards, its seems that all the fuss is wrapped up brand speak! "Kinematic viscosity is graded by measuring the time it takes for a standard amount of oil to flow through a standard orifice". Are these oils not rated the same in terms of flow? Or is it that secret ingredient mobil / or bardahl put into there oils that makes engines unbreakable.

Alot of lads seem to swear by mobil and the nascar lads endorse it (all money/ brand centric aswell however). And from this thread, there has been a number of oil brand / types mentioned.. some of which people say do the job fine in their race cars (what does oil do!! Loobs shits ).. there may be more/ less wear on internals with some of these oils.. I don't think anybody can prove this right or wrong. I don't think anyone can prove that the brand of oil they put in was the root cause of there engine dying, unless people have experiences.. but i'd say the cause was something unrelated to the type of oil!

I'm no oil expert, but just my piece.

Lots of lads on here know their shit when it comes to sr's and rb's
and time and time again anyone who knows what there talking about will always recommend 15w 50 for these engines.
I don't know much about oil but I trust this advice form people who have built lots of engines and have first hand experience on the consequences of using inferior oils.
