Importing a car from japan

well youve to buy the car, then pay for shippin,then payin them bastards customs and excise then vrt :( shippin is around 600 dependin on car size, customs and excise in 21% vat and apercentage on the price you payed for the car (think its 9% i forget) so you usually put down the lowest price on the invoice

eh ive heard of these row-row boats?? what are they like for bringing over??

i was thinking of buying a bog standard turbo car in japland and i just want to look into it more! might be able to pick 1 up cheaper then over here

i dunno man i dont think you'l get much cheaper than here at the min, alot of good deals all over here. jap price seem to be gone a bit mental over there

yeah just been looking at that! but every feckin yoke over here is eitheir has done rings at every cross roads or is too dear! but there is some cheapy clean cars on here aswell! but im on a strict budget to start off with! id say ill have to for something cheap and get going and then get something with a nice bit of spec

but their goina be drifted out in japan too ya know, but if ya do find a car out there just make sure they make out the invoice for peanuts so customs and excise cant rape ya. id love to import again, nothin like waitin for your baby to arrive in the port, its like the xmas feelin ya got years ago hahah

yeah i no what u mean about being drifted aswell!
but its not on irish roads with irish drivers eithier!


but ive spotted a bmw or 3 so i might go for something like that! i just wanted the info for the future etc... so thanks alot lad

Car =1000 example
Shipping =800 approx
Car shipped to ireland with handeling fees and insurance = 2000

Now your car to be shipped to ireland is 2000 euro then u have to pay vat,custom dutys and handeling fees etc

Duty @10% of 2k=200
2k+200 =2200
Vat @21% of 2200 = 462
Custom broker =125
shippin comp =120

approx price = 3107

With the way the yen in now it would be mad to buy a car from Japan. I look at the yen everyday just to see what happening and its crazy bad. But if you have the money to spend do it.

as wally said the way the yen is you would buy a car here for far less!!!! lots of bargins out der once ya look for em!!!!

I think they are pulling your leg abit, Bog standard or not i can see one ever making that money, the shipping alone would be at least €500, and then with the price of the car and vat + duty and handling charges, its all adds up...

the shipping was extra! it was 1500 euro! but thats a few years ago i think

If your spending 1-2k if not more buy it here, these days it would ony be worth while if you bought a well preped car with loads of money in it already going for cheap in Japan.
Part from that you will not get a cheapo car. unless your buying a spec S s15 for 3k landed.

over 600 for shipping + all the other stuff ....
where as you could buy that red 180 in the for slae section for 2500 euro!!!
