Is anyone running an ECU chip , cause they seem cheap and i was just wondering if they are easy install and trouble free
i know power FC is probaly the best option of ecu
but you 'd buy six pre tuned chips for dat

best off buying a bag of chips to eat when your standing there after melting a piston prooper ecu and get it mapped
so i take it no one is in favour of chiped ecu's
even if they are for a particular set up eg. z32 t28 555cc injectors 255lph fuel pump ....
unless the person who made the chip lives in ireland and uses our crap petrol and it is the exact same sort of climate conditions it will not be the same, you could take a power fc for example take it from a car with all them mods on it and was mapped in one car put it strait in to another and it could run ok or run like a ball of shite and melt its self in 10mins no 2 cars are the same so thats why ur best off getting it mappped to your car
id be with gem
do it properly the first time or it will probably only cost you money in the long run
i went motec first time...best of the best IMO but a power fc would be perfect too just as long as you get it mapped to your own car:)
Sound lads advice greatly appriciated :cool:
theres a fair ammount of lads using nistune mapable chips.... including me.
same thing as a power fc at the end of the day.
the only chip id even think of using would be a nistune, mapped to your car and re-writable
wen people talk bout nistune how good is it comparing it 2 a power fc
they say safer than the pfc, better knock prevention or something....
only 1 fella in ireland maping nistunes tho, he told me that its as good as a d-jetro just with a afm.
from what i hear nistune are ment to a better set up then a power fc.......they have a double map,so if your car starts to detonate or anything goes wrong it will change over to a safer map automatically.....wear as the power fc just tells you the problem but doesnt really do anything to help...........nistune sound the job............
iv heard alot of good things bout it and fellas are happy with it, hope i be as happy wen i get mine done ha, hopefully will have a report on it but the weekend with figures
I have nistune map done to my car and couldnt be happier, great power gain, and engine is safe as a house!
is der much difference in the price or the nistune and the power fc and what is the cost of gettin it mapped
There is a fella in rathdowney, called stiv who maps nistune, he does it supplied, fitted and mapped for €450 and i havent heard one bad thing about him ever, and i know from dealing with him myself how good he is.
i see why its so popular now:D:D:D:D
I'll be with gem and the rest on mapping BUT it also depends on your budget and requirements. If you follow so called "stages" and check it on a rolling road for det you should be fine. Some common sense is required though (no big boost etc). You'd see power gains but not so big as it would be custom mapped.
I'm saying this from personal experience and Horsham Development (H-Dev, Jez) chips work well and I have dyno graphs from CA18 run on Surrey Rolling Road (reputable dyno) to prove it. My car had stage 1 and then stage 2 fitted, all working great with good fuelling and power/torque.
CA18det with s14 tubby, stage 2 chip etc, made 266bhp at 1 bar and that's with leaking fmic. It ran like that for 30k miles and withstand a lot of abuse too:D
Saying that, I got for myself some cheap custom NOZ chip from ebay to match z32, 560 injectors and TD05 turbo. I'll have AFR, EGT gauges and I'll make some det cans for testing:D plus rolling road test, so not recommended for starters.
