Right ok so, I have been weighing up the options of what to do with the bay, and instead of just fixing the areas that fucked up on me I started at it again. Say what yea want, Im not doing a half arsed job at this so for piece of mind id prefer to have the bay perfect. There is another few areas around the bulkhead that I marked when I was putting the engine in the last time so Ill be fixing them too.
I want there to be absolutely so rust on this car when it goes back together and in order to make sure of that iv stripped everything out of it in search of it. After I removed the carpet there is areas around where the roll cage went through the floor that are covered in surface rust, nothing too major but Im gonna attack it sooner rather then later.

I managed to convince the mother to let me work on the car inside in the garage, its plenty big enough but the door is at a pure shite angle and is too narrow. It took me about 1 hour and 30 mins to get the car fully inside!!

So the search continues and more and more parts were removed, surprisingly even with all the bits removed from the car its still quite heavy!!!
Dropped the subframe to get it cleaned up and sprayed before it goes back on.

So the time came to start back at the engine bay. I did consider just sanding it down again but it took forever the last time so I got the sandblaster out and went at it.

Really was a pain in the arse but saved a considerable amount of time, not yet finished but it wont take much longer. Next on the list is to go at the underside of the car, removing and treating and further rust and then a coat or two of schultz under the car.
Thats all for now, this shouldnt take too long to finish all this prep work as iv found the motivation I needed to get stuck into the car.
While its all cleaned of paint would you not spot weld some area's? like all the front end from the door hinges forward? And since you sand blasted it are you going to re seal the seams?
I don't see a point in seam welding a road car. Yea I will be using seam sealer before I spray it with Schultz
No point seam welding a road car makes the car to ridget and will only end up cracking somewhere as it has to give somewhere the direction ur going is perfect joe just take ur time and be patient it's a cunt of a job but will pay off in the endQuote:

I also got these 5 stud hubs for the rear of the car, since all the decent wheels are in % stud ill do a 5 stud conversion on the rear of the car.

Got her to the garage and into the bodyshop for paint again, second time lucky and I decided to spray it a different colour instead of goin MNP again.
We spent a good while sanding it down and getting as much of the old paint off as we could.

Iv to call into the garage tomorrow and put it back together, thankfully the time has come to get the engine back into this baby. The plan is to have it ready for my birthday next month.

Most people would of spent the bank holiday chilling out with the 20 deg heat that was outside, but not me!! Ha ha. Decided to get stuck into getting the car back together, with the help of a mate we put the engine and box in together and managed not to mark the freshly painted engine bay :)
Firstly we gave the engine a quick clean with degreaser and its amazing how clean the block came up after we were done.

Going to spend another while at it again this weekend, need to finish up the pipework in the bay, fit the diff and prop shaft, run brake pipes, new fluids and filters, run the power cable to the boot, fit fuel tank, fit every exterior pannel and paint the car. Jesys even just writing it down the list seems to be endless!!
Fingers crossed ill get it done, say a prayer for me guys!! lol

And I picked up a set of wheels for the back of the car, gonna have to convert the rear to 5 stud to get them to fit but thats not a problem as iv a set of rear 5 stud hubs and bearings off a R34 GTT, just need to swap the rear hubs to get them to fit.

The light has me beat but I did get a good lot done to the car today. All the wiring inside is done and Iv the dash 70% put back in. Hooked up the jump leads and the ignition lights come on, the fan works and the fuel pump fires up. Another few days working at it and it should be ready to start up. With the pile of boxes full of parts gradually getting smaller it's finally starting to look like a car again!! Dropped my LCA's off today to have them extended by 25mm and to get them gusseted. I'm gonna have to wait until payday at the end of the month before I can afford to buy gear oil, coolant etc. And I'm also going to have to get the steering sorted, need to get a high pressure steering line made up as the HICAS setup was an absolute maze of pipes and I couldn't use the old one. In the meantime I'll just plug away at doing bits that don't cost anything to do, hopefully the rain will hold off while I get this stuff done. Collected the power cable from a R33 so I can relocate the battery into the boot courtesy of slithertooth and got an oil catch can. Just need to figure out where I'm gonna put it so it looks tidy.

After spending all the time putting the interior back together i'm going to be taking it all back out again. The reason being is some of the interior panels look like there starting to melt. So im taking the full interior out of the car and flocking all the panels, taking a few steps back again but it'll be worth it in the end as some of the panels are so bad that the residue is sticking to my hands when I take them away. Unsure weather I should go two tone or just keep the one colour for everything.
The outside of the car is starting to look complete again, I'm still a long way off being finished but I'm slowly getting there. Weather isn't really on my side and this would be so much easier if I had a shed.

Pure gadget, does fuck all except give me live info on what the car is doing. Trying to figure out exactly where im gonna mount it in the car, as im flocking the dash I dont really want to have the bracket sitting on the dash. Where I am thinking of putting it is in the air vents in the centre of the dash as one side has already been macked out of it for a gauge that is no longer there and the other is as useful as an ashtray on a motorbike due to the fact that all the fins inside it are pointing all over the place.

As you can see above the places I want to put it. Deco pointed out it would be better to put it in the right vent as it will be easier to flick through the settings. He also recommended to put a gauge in the left vent but I don't have any gauges to fit yet. Iv more important things to do before I fit the Multi Checker anyway so I might pick up a gauge over the next couple of months and then work on fabricating them into place.

I decided I would run some custom steering lines so went onto demon tweeks and priced up a load of the little pipe connectors I would need, and the price of them was absolutely ridiculous. I was looking at getting a chasebays power steering reservoir re-locator kit and then lucky enough for me k1984w ended up breaking his 180sx so I bought the chasebays kit off him.

Further on my quest to remove all the HICAS I started into the wiring loom to remove all the wires associated with the HICAS and the automatic gearbox (Iv quit smoking and I'm trying to find something to keep my mind busy).
So I removed the full interior wiring loom and started into remove all the stuff that wasnt needed. I also had to fix a load of loose wires in the centre as it looks like someone stole a radio and ripped the wires out while they were at it.

I'm also going to be removing the engine bay loom as there is quite a few chopped wires that I'm not happy about, then ill chase the loom and see what wire is what as I'm going to retrofit the fuse box from the R33 skyline into the engine bay. The reason I'm doing this is because I'm running the power cable for the battery into the boot and if I ever want to jump start the car I want to be able to do it from the engine bay.

Gonna try clean up the shed so I can get the car inside over the winter, collecting my wheels tonight so ill put the rear 5 stud hubs on the car and I'll see weather or not ill need to tub the rear arches in order to get them to fit.
