sorry to spam your thread abit more bart but id love to hear more bout this gt30 setup.
If youve got a gt3071 of some sort spooling faster than a gt2871r then fair fucks. Did the 2871r have a larger a/r like the .86 or 1.12? Was it the same exhaust manifold set up? both top or bottom mount?
My turbo is basically at gt3071r with a different exhaust housing and its definatly laggy compaired to any 2871 with a reasonable a/r

im not spammin im speakin 4rom experience and wat good is a tubby that wont last and ask colfer he went thru a few of them
its not that you need to run higher boost to get the power as im not disputing the power output of these turbos,like i said there good for what they are,but the GT30 imo is a better turbo,each to there own at the end of the day.its about the power your planning on.the way i see it a 2871 or a GT30 both at 1 bar the gt30 is gonna develop more power and to me is a better turbo so its not all about running high boost,bigger turbos develop bigger power simple.
anyway i think we should get back on topic to a great project as we have talked about the turbos enough,its up to bart to decide what turbo he chooses,any one any more questions about turbos,pm me no probs as to not to clog up barts thread

QUICK UPDATE
took out the engine last night...
going away tomorrow to few bits done..
should have it back next weekend..:D
so we'll throw it back into it then...
and all going well it be running next sat...
nice wagon lad!!
just found out that the top of the spark plug broke off and sat on piston 2...
so this now putting the build back another week.
thought i'd have it running this weekend...
thats a balls lad :( did it do much damage?
still waiting on few bits in to finish it....
hopefully i'll have engine back this weekend:D
ok quick update..
put engine in last week..
ended up having to go nistune as my power fc was wrong one..
anyway car was running fine and ran it in for a day..
had it in stivs and him and a mate of mine went and mapped it.
car was running 100% and finished the map..
they were on way home and heard a rattle:eek:
got it back to shed.
so out comes engine AGAIN:mad:
ANYWAY IT WAS OUR OWN FAULT.
WE PUT THE OIL RECOLATER KIT PIPES ON WRONG WAY AROUND.:(
SO NO OIL GETTING AROUND:o
SO MEANS BEARINGS ARE WANKED..
BUT CRANK IS OK;)
SO NEW SET OF BEARINGS GOING INTO IT TOMORROW AND PUTTING IT BACK TOGETHER TOMORROW..
WILL BE PUTTING ENGINE IN FRI.
SO MONDELLO IS LOOKING GOOD.

Pipes round the rong way shouldnt cause the engine to go bang, itl only mean the oil goes through the cooler befor the filter and through the filter the rong way, it wont restrict the flow. If i wer you, id check for a more in depth/underlying probs or you might be doing the same again in a few weeks.
Also, if the bearings have ran on the crank, i bet you €100 if you mesure the jernal properly its fooooked;)
bart dat is hard fukin luk lad!!!! but polo's right!! ive never seen a set of bearings go without doin damage!!! even if the crank looks mint its still got damage!!
