Why the mad face? things not going your way?
sickener theres a 328i engine fore sale on done deal too i seen it 1 day i think its in dublin
case are a good job i got a 4wd davey browne
yeah 2.8s can be tricky like that , ah an e36 is a grippy car anyway jus need a good cage in her :) i'm hopin to make it out for when drift fest comes to kilkenny
only i'm waiting on parts from a certain someone :P
great work :) pity about the engine hope u get sorted!! where did you get the 25mm spacers??
I didn't use e46 wishbones, just extended the standard ones by about 35mm I think.
New engine is in and I'll hopefully get it out for a spin sunday to see how's she's running with the lightened flywheel and how it sounds with the cherry bombs, vid to follow hopefully :D
Nice one. Hopefully she's healtier than the last one.
Got the car down home again at the weekend, seems to be going great now, no overheating and no pressure building in coolant pipes so engine seems to be solid. Gave it a good warming sunday and all went well.
So work that was done since last update, new engine, m50 manifold, M20 lightened flywheel and clutch, driftworks aluminium radiator, 2:1 steering quickner & twin cherry bomb exhausts fitted to straight through exhaust.
Few pics and a video of how it sounds now

The clutch is slipping a bit, any ideas why this would be as it was a perfect clutch that went back into it, something to do with the E30 setup?
mint!! will you be out sunday for superdrift?
No didn't get to watergrasshill, bit of spin from longford and car still needs a few bits done.
Booked in now for tynagh on the 26th March to test the car before driftfest logging for masters series, if all goes well I'll log the car in Mondello on the following Saturday.
Few bits to get done before Tynagh,
Get my 4.1 diff swap done
Fit 14" electric fan to replace viscous
Fit temperature gauge
Oil change
Door Cards
General tidy up
Get tyres sorted :D
Got an M3 bumper a while back, it was fairly rough so done a bit of repairs on it and sprayed it up again, happy enough with it now
http://i1241.photobucket.com/albums/...ps1301ba19.jpg
Finally got all bits of the spare shell and left it rest in a quiet corner in case I ever need it again, no point scrapping a perfect shell

mmmmmmm shes lookin mean now  hopping to get mine looking some bit like yours :)
Got bit done at the weekend,
Removed my spare e36 medium case diff from the rear subframe of the other car I stripped and went about swapping the internals from the E28 4.1 diff.
I'll admit I hadn't much of a clue what needed to be done so went up to the local garage who had also helped me out with doing most of the work on the engine and manifold swap, so big thanks to them for all the advise in the last few weeks! (i'll have to put them down as sponsors!)
So with a bit of advise from the lads I got it done, wasn't as bad I thought it would be as everything is pretty much interchangable.

You can see the difference in the pinions above, 2.93 on top and 4.1 on bottom.
I'll get it welded and fitted this week and it'll be interested to see what difference it makes. :D
Last few weeks have been crazy busy...
I went to Superdrift in Tynagh to test the car a few weeks back.
First 4 laps and the car drank €20 of petrol, I feared the worst and thought something serious wrong, possibly another fucked engine.
Dave M gave me a set of injectors to try out and the car went great after, my driving was shit though.
It was a completely different car to drive with the 4.1 diff, more power, and steering quickner, by the end of the day I had the hang of it again.
Was delighted I got sorted and car was running well with no overheating.
Few pics and video link, more videos on that channel as well.

Turns out the car was too cold and there was no problem with my injectors. Always learning.....
So after the car went well at Superdrift I decided to give Driftfest Masters Round 1 a shot so I got it logged in Mondello at the AE86 day.
Great day and some serious cars on show, jaw dropped when I seen Adrian Walsh's car, it is unreal!
Got through logging and headed for Fermoy at the weekend, I entered street class as I've no cage. Was never in Fermoy and first competition so I was pretty nervous.
Saturday went great, car never missed a beat all day and got loads of practice, even got to follow a few of the pro's which helped me get my line right around the track.
Qualifying came in a bit of a panic as I had to change tyres and rush back to the line just in time for my run so I was a bit stressed! First run was only OK and second was a bit better. Ended up qualifying third, about ten points behind Danny and Noran so I knew I had a bit of work to do on Sunday.
Sunday morning practice went well, had two good runs and two middling runs. I was very surprised with the car and how close I was running the walls and hitting clipping points, really enjoyed it!
Had half an hour to spare before the street class superlap which would decide the overall winner so was fairly chilled out, headed for the line with about ten minutes to go, next thing I realised my Go Pro fell off the car! FUCK! Couldn't find the thing anywhere and was stressed to the max when I was called to the line.
Nailed the first superlap and nearly hit a wall head on on the second run so it was a no score but was fairly happy with the first run.
Didnt get to see or hear about Noran's or Danny's runs so wasn't sure where I placed.
Turned out a couple of lads found my GO Pro and gave it to a marshall, so thanks for that lads, fair play.
Results time came and I couldn't believe I got first place in my class, I was over the moon. Delighted with the car and how it's handling at the minute. :D
Sorry for the essay!
Few pics, I'll stick up a few videos tonight of the winners of team drifting hopefully, it was epic.

well done man. I'd say your delighted with that result. and the running perfect now.
Yeah delighted, I know street class didn't do any battles but that doesn't mean we didn't push hard to rub walls! hopefully it's a lucky year.
Stuck up a few videos from the weekend there on the old tube :afro:

Glad I got to see the build thread, great story and great finish in fermoy, I'm after starting building my own e36 , only a 318is at the minute but keeping my eyes peeled for decent running gear , looking forward to seeing this in action in city west
hey man! good buy! just relation to the diff. if you can get an auto diff and weld it shorter ratio more fun!
Its a got spot up there but possibly the coldest place in Ireland, let me know when your going up, 2 of the lads who are competing in drift feast do be up there every few weeks
Some photo's from driftfest, serious media coverage at it so no shortage of pics to choose from

http://i1241.photobucket.com/albums/...ps7943be47.jpg
Not much to update on, I got a push button start and switch panel, along with cut off switch and pull cord wired in last week by Mickel on here, done a great tidy job and tidied up all the wiring for me as well, very tasty at his work.
Dropped the car down to get caged yesterday, should be ready to collect in a week or two, need to find something to sell to pay for it now!
Got round to watching the coverage of driftfest on motors TV, I thought it was good enough, yeah there was a few things that could have been done better but I think omnicoverage will take on board everything that has been said.
Few seconds of a clip of my drive so was happy :afro: pity it was one of my early runs and my line was a way off :D

I sent the car down to get a full CDS cage with Shane Bradley.
Got it back tuesday night and I'm delighted with. Shane does great work.
It's fully up to reg's so it was well worth the bit of extra money to get the CDS cage.
Few snaps;

Now the main reason I was getting it caged was to compete in DRIFTFEST in citywest and punchestown but now that that series is gone I'm not sure what to do.
Is it possible to enter IDC as a rookie for the remaining rounds?
Has anyone a contact number I could ring?
I sent an email yesterday so waiting on reply.
Anyway, delighted with the cage, Shane did a great tidy & tight fitting job. Recommend him to anyone.
Next is to get the inside of the car painting matt black and the cage painted massey ferguson red :D and try and get the seats reclothed to tidy them up a bit.
great work man well done as for your first build from there on it can only get better.
This should have been a very happy update....but it's not! :(
A few days after I got the cage back I spotted a competition on speedhunters for a drift workshop over in the UK which Mad Mike and Fredric Aasbo would be giving talks on sponsorhip, car set up, getting lines correct etc and also on track tutorials, along with bring them in your own car and getting tips etc from them.
http://i1241.photobucket.com/albums/...ps7d8c0786.png
So I entered and I was one of the twelve to be chosen to take part. I found this out on the tuesday and the workshop was on the following sunday.
I had a lot of bits to do on the car to have it presentable.
I painted the cage and inside of the car
http://i1241.photobucket.com/albums/...ps905d40e3.jpg
http://i1241.photobucket.com/albums/...ps751fbac6.jpg
Then got the dash back in, fitted the switch panel and finished the kill switch and pull cord
http://i1241.photobucket.com/albums/...psa148e5e8.jpg
http://i1241.photobucket.com/albums/...ps35d00192.jpg
I also went and got the seats covered over to tidy them up a bit
http://i1241.photobucket.com/albums/...ps7ba3143e.jpg
So that was that, car was all back together and I was delighted with how it looked, headed for the boat saturday morning and boarded no problem.
http://i1241.photobucket.com/albums/...ps7c208817.jpg
Got off the boat in Holyhead about 4.00pm and hit the motorway.
2.5hrs up the motorway we got pulled over by a very very dutiful policeman, inspected everything, gave the trailer a right going over. Then checked licence and said I don't have the right licence, I need a trailer licence, He impounded the car and the trailer and said to get it back I need to bring someone that has a trailer licence. He wasn't for budging.
So we were stuck in the middle of england trying to figure out how we'd get the car and trailer back to holyhead to get the boat home monday morning at 2.30am.
Between a lot of phone calls we eventually had to bite the bullet and fly my father over to manchester sunday evening and get the car back and head back to holyhead.
Dream weekend turned into a nightmare. I got to meet and chat to Mad Mike and Fredric but I had to leave after two hours but by all accounts it would have being an class day.
Absolutely gutted about the whole weekend. Everything was such a rush I never even thought of the trailer licence, never imagined he would impound the whole thing either.
I've spent any money I had budgeted to compete in the remaining rounds of the IDC getting the car out of the impound and home etc.
Anyway, shit happens and sur that's rallying for yeee :p
Booked in for trailer licence now anyway! :o
http://i1241.photobucket.com/albums/...ps7f82ef34.jpg
Awe fuckin hell man that's sickening but guess ya don't need anyone to tel ya that.
At least ya got to meet mad mike how's the car running this weather

It wasn't a complete waist so. I didn't spot your yoke at Tynagh yesterday are ya just goin sticking to the idc now
No didn't make it to Tynagh unfortunatley.
Still unsure about IDC, I'm on the reserve drivers list. Car just wouldn't be competitive but if I get on the list I might do it to gain some experience and for the craic!
Was this new icon just introduced for me??!!... :police::police::police:
Time for an update on this.
Haven't done much since the last update.
Went to the JustJap practice day in Mondello, it was a serious days craic and car went great all day.
Rolled the back arches before that as the wheels were rubbing a fair bit when it sat down. Happy enough how they turned out.

Next up was the superdrift cup at the weekend.
Loaded up and hit the road saturday morning
http://i1241.photobucket.com/albums/...psb74dba9a.jpg
First time at the track so could have done with a bit more practice time, 6 runs in total and track was very wet so I was pretty worried I wouldn't qualify for top 32.
Got 17th out of 32 so was happy enough.
Into top 32 battles, I was chasing, into first corner pulled the handbrake and it just about pulled the rear brakes, onto to the next corner, pulled the handbrake and touched the brakes, nothing, all fluid pumped out and car went straight, so run was fucked.
I pulled up to the start line and checked the brakes again and had nothing.
Stupidly I said I'd go for it and tried to complete a run, but without handbrake or brakes in the wet it was pointless.
I should have taken the 5 minute rule and tried to do something, but sure I'll know for again.
Good days craic though.
Small clip from practice run;

That's it for me for the year I'd say. Save a few €'s for next year.
Hopefully get the brother out driving it for a day or two before the year is out.
Few specialist BMW breakers around the country.
Try these two anyway
