4age... sr is never really under any kind of load. even in tullow where it concrete it just purr`s no hard throttle to slide.

I'll jump on the wagon too and just confirm what nicko said. I saw when someone posted results with oem and aftermarket bearings.
The difference was that the oem bearings were wearing gradually. The a/m ones were delaminating (the cheaper, the worse).

I've had limited experience with rebuilds (just did a couple) but it's a FACT that production tolerances for oem are much tighter. I had scandalous example once where the shaft wouldn't spin FFS. Either grind was shit or bearings shit, I only know that I was 300 euro short and it did spin in new bearings.

Hats off guys for taking the risk and entering a minefield of engine rebuilding.

Its not a minefeild if its done properly. If you couldn't turn the crank after assembling an engine, thats because you didn't take measurements from the crank, journals and bearing shells to check your clearances or else the caps were over tightened.

The crank was measured in the shop, the bearings were made especially for it (custom). When bearings were put in and lubricated, I put in the shaft to check
if all is ok before going further. It was obvious that something went wrong.

So it was nothing to do with acl or any mas produced bearings..:rolleyes:

god that looks like it was spun

Ive seen a few bad ACL bearings...Also make sure what it says on the box matches whats inside it...:P
