Lads any tips on how to loosen em up, they are practically welded in and I broke a plug in a head years an years ago and don't fancy it happening again so I'm afraid to put them under too much pressure

one thing id always be afraid of is braking a plug in the head,. what needed to be done to remove them?

as said try with the engine nice and hot and wd40 ,
spray the wd40 in first start the car leave it soak. whiles its nice an warm give it another spray and see then!

just pull the bar evenly, don be jerkin.. a continuous pull is the trick in not breakin things

Someone that is used to that sort of work like Gem say would know if the plug is going to break.
So my advice would be don't panic and let someone like that loosen them.
Often lads don't know what they are at break stuff be being rough and jerking ratchets etc.... Not saying that's you Ste

As above, get the engine good and hot, plenty of spray oil down around the plug, let it absorb for a few minutes, and go at it.

Ive have one or two plugs break on me, it does happen especially on cars that havnt been well serviced, but i have all the extraction tools here in work and have been lucky enough to get away without taking the head off.

If you want a hand your more than welcome to pop down to the garage, and I'll see what I can do for ya!
