Look for an old E28 518 or 520 that's being broken and get the diff from it.

Hard to find but usually, it'll be cheaper than somebody that has a cwp on its own and knows 4.45s are sought after.

Is the E28 diff a straight fit or is it the internals that you need to swap?

Is it much of a job to swap internals?

Yeah, you have to swap the internals. It's not much of a job but some people seem to have a phobia if opening gearboxes, diffs etc.

Ive done a good few of then but once you take note of what your doing and put back things exactly the way they come off, it's handy enough. Just give me a shout on here if you get a cwp and need any help fitting it.

520s are 4.27 so close enough to a 4.45. 518s were the 4.1s (as it made the 520s feel quicker) and yes the autos were 4.45 if your lucky enough to find one ;);)
