Default CA18 powered 200sx's.... really that bad?

Right I keep hearing mixed reviews constantly over them.... I know they can suffer badly with the big ends going. But is the engine pure scrap?

But are they really that bad?

What would someone have to look out for with one.... bar the obvious rust?

    And what would you's think a 94 s13 shape 200sx is worth?

    cheers

Same as with everything - goes bad with age. On the other note I've seen plenty of sr20 engines failing recently due to engine bearings failure, holes in pistons, flying rocker arms etc etc.

The fact is what is it like when it works......

Why do u thinki CA engines can be got in the UK for £50/100? THEY'RE SCRAP!!!!!!!!

Wouldnt touch one with a barge pole especially if i was planning on giving it some proper driving.
Regardless of if u mind them, what about the 20 million other people who's had it before you?

In the long run it'll cost u more on repairs and maintanence than buying an SR 200/180 etc now.

With the prices some of them are making i wouldnt even be blinking at a CA

    Bigger fools them!
For a couple hundred more you'd have a full SR conversion.

I do have to laugh though when u see people chancing their arms selling a CA (complete car) over €1000 they aint worth crap unless they have parts on them good enough to break and make money back from.

    There's a reason there's more SR's in the country!
