i am using 225/45/17 marix every bit as good as federals, also using 245/40/17 brigdestones both tyres €40 each a lot cheaper than federals.

i was buying my federals off lakeland tyres at the events all last year...they were only 50 euro a tyre i think so thats pretty dam good for federals... everyone has their own preferences for tyres but i cant seem to find an all round better tyre than federals...they have savage grip, last aaaages, are relatively cheap and you get a nice bit of smoke off them!! shur what more could you want haha
i had them on the front when i couldnt afford any better and even then they were still really good!!
for the back they are just savage IMO

I won the non seeded pro championship in 09 using Federals SS 595s on the back, aint nothing wrong with them! With that power I would say youre better to stick to 225s or at the widest 235s, anything wider will just make it difficult to drive. You could go wider and run high psi but at the end of the day youre just reducing your contact patch by doing that, effectively making the tyre narrower on the ground and increasing temperature and wear. You could run the 225 or 235s at 20 psi cold and it would give you good grip. As far as the front is concerned, I've genuinely never felt a better tyre on the front than the Bridgestone Potenza RE050s I'm running. If you have anything near good geometry they give telepathic levels of feedback and theres no understeer at all with them, and they work very well in the wet aswell. They might be a bit expensive to be running on the back in the dry, but if you could stretch to it it would be well worth having a set there for a rainy day
