15w50 is a grade of oil
for it to be 15w50 it has to conform to the same tests as the mobil 1
by buying mobil all you are paying for is the brand name
like mobil, castrol, duckhams etc.

15w50 is only the viscosity of the oil my friend.

Is mobil 1 an ester based oil??has anyone TESTED Silkolene pro r I use it when I can get my hands on it and find it very good and also ester oils have a longer service interval period than just fully synthetic or so I am lead to believe.I think the castrol race oil is ester based aswell

I can sell you a gallon of Oil from a Brand you'll prob not heard of before in 15w50 for €9.45+vat, I can sell you castrol for €17.85+vat.
Are you telling me that Castrol charge more due to "Brand"?
Simply not the case.Not saying theres anything wrong with the cheaper brand but your mis-informed from your sales guy. 15W50 is the grade.Specs are a whole diff ball game.
I do believe Mobil is way over rated tho.Their wholesale prices which are available to me are even ridiculous.
Expect oil prices to increase over the next month or so dramatically.
