WOW! So, first drift comp ever completed at the weekend, and jesus did i have a fucking blast to say the least!

So ill give a run down of the weekend followed by the coverage and footage!

    Saturday - Practice day:

Well I hadnt bothered gettign the car ready, so it was still sitting in the drive saturday i traced the wires around the turbo and found a load of them melted from mondello. Fixed them up, then fuel pump stopped working. hardwired it and then she started! woop! then i saw coolant everywhere. FUCK. Massive thanks to Mark willis as id pretty much given up and he gave me a dig out and we got it going! Wasnt sure if it was driving ok so literaly had no other way of testing it apart from put the car under load in the drive, turns out it was working ok

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nnOiVWDqCCA

So jay and willis went all out to get a trailer and truck and we packed up and set sail for port laoise at about half 8 sat night. Needless to say we got fuck faced, jay puked IN the skyline, me and willis got chased by the 5-0 around the hotel, and we ko'd for the night and woke up to find we were late for qualifying haha. leg itttttt!

Right so, qualifying! I could NOT string one lap together in the practice runs, KEPT spinning and I was getting fairly frustrated.Something in the steering is bent since mondello and tracking is way off. But i just relaxed, listened to tips off some of the lads and tried harder.

next thing Bart is calling me up to the front...1st place qualifier, I was like, WTF! Delighted! So into semi pros i went! First run against Trixta, I didnt know what to expect as I hadnt seen him drive before, by jaysus he was on my tail though and both runs were very close. Unfortunatley he thought i was spinning and let off so I went through, certainly a very good driver in the twitchy mx5!

So in I went, and next I was up against *cant remember his name!* in the blue ps13, good runs in this too, nothing too close, but I managed to pull through with the win!

Next if i remember correctly, I was up against Stevo. Its now worth pointing out...WHEN THE FUCK DID HE GET SO GOOD?! crikey! Fun runs, I think Stevo overcooked it going by the pics when i was leading and i went through then to the finals...it was now that i was starting to take advantage of my 8mm washers each side of the rack!

So now I heard I was up against Bert in the r342. I knew he was a good driver so knew itd be tricky, but sure I went for it! We both were stuck to eachothers doors on both runs, but my fucking boost pipe blew off when I was leading so we both pulled in and did some quick fixes and we were out again!

I straightened on the last corner due to error on my part and I knew then I had lost, got out and had a big handshake and a good laugh and we were both delighted with our results!

then it was pro qualifying I think?! was chuffed i was in the pro class!

Had a brief (which i was late for as i was clueless and changing wheels) and was put up against paul murphy in the high spec s14.5..little did i know I was soon to be against both these serious machines!

AND I PROGRESSED! was so happy that the standard ropey r32 held to the serious spec 14.5!

And then onto darren coss in the soarer, and our top8 battle. TBH, I sort of knew I had slim luck in this one, he is just so smooth and consistent in the soarer! I was struggling to keep with the pros off the line on my skinny no traction tyres!

He led first, I tried to follow but found I didnt keep with him too well! then the other way around

By this stage I was realy starting to showboat with gettign near the container and I unfortunately clipped it and Coss took the win! he deserved it though, on fire all day!

heres some pics of other runs where i got mega close!

And so there I am! 1st place qualifier, second place semi pro, and into the top 8 in pros! over the moon! all in a ropey standard enough r32 that stands me just over a grand! hooray! still buzzing haha!

Spending an hour with the multimeter on every wire in the car is more than pointing at things, and I made that lovely oil catch in mondello!!
