reconditioned gearbox

The sister has a 06 nissan primiera 1.6 petrol and the gearbox shat itself. From what i heard its a comon fault and the only second hand box they could get is €800 with 2 day guarentee and when fitted was hard to get first so they backed out straight away just incase as money is tight. Anyway i tought €800 for second hand box was expensive so my question is how much would a recon box cost and is there anyone good at rebuilds out there ye used. She lives in kerry aswell. All help appreciated

That sounds more like it to me. Only problem is the box blew a hole out the side as far as i know she said oil was left under it. Could they supply a box i wonder at extra cost?

would the older primera have a simular box? i know they sunnys primeras almeras and 1.2 jap micras all have the same box just differnt ratios?

If its a problem with the gearbox in them not really any point in getting a second hand one if ya get me might only last 1000miles. But might be worth a quick call anyhow thanks.

Ya the almera 04 to 06 i think is the same.
