Default SR20DET into Opel Manta GTE Coupe??

Riiiiiiight.......thinking of starting a looooooong project on the basis that i will drop an sr20det into an opel manta coupe (year probably 1987)

To be totally honest, i dont really have much of a clue what im at but doing this is my way of learning i guess. I will obviously get help from people in the know when doing things waayy above my skill level.

I have basic welding skills to my disposal and a keen eye for detail...

Can anybody help me with the best ways of doing things regarding front cross members/rear subframes/mounting the engine etc etc....

    CHEERS BAAAYYES!

i was going to do an sr job on my uncles manta but then he sold it!! fucker!! i measured it all up and recon it would go fairly well but the front cross member will need to go and put in propper mcphesen struts as the other one is a load of balls!! so alot of sheel fab work would be needed!!

youre talking to an amateur here man, what you mean the front cross member needs to go? mcpherson strut??

What would need to be done regarding the rear subframe? Would i be able to have the s14 subframe fab'd to fit the manta chassis? that way i could use the s14 diff, shafts etc etc

ive been searching for a couple of weeks now and have only seen the white manta 400 replica with the sr done by one of ECC's employees but the thread gave no info on what fabrication/chassis mods were done.

i mean the stuts as in front shocks/coilovers the manta has a big ass double wish bone type setup with shocks and springs its an awful messy yoke realy and the cross member is huge!! what i was going to do was sorta space frame the whole front end and put in complete s-body subframe coilovers skyline brakes and stering rack so could run powersterring, as for the rear id say ther ebe no point mate ther is rally lads running 300bhp in forrests with good atlas or even english axels and rose jointed 5 link kits are widely availble for the manta A

ahhhhh ok ok i see! thing is, ive an s14 shell there with subframes and all that i can rip apart for bits if i need to so thats a start.

i guess its a case of figuring out what needs to be fabricated and where it needs to be done on the s14 subframe but only once i have the manta, the engine and s14 bits all there infront of me?

if i dont end up being able to do this myself, dyou reckon we're talking massive money to have the subframe and engine bay mods done by a pro so the jobs done right?

wel being honst man if you are dobting u have the skill to do the job i wouldnt start into it even to find a manta shell that is not rotton you will be looking! so it will most likely need a good bit of welding and pannels fabed to even get it to the stage that it could take the power of a decent sr and not split apart
