180 hard to select 2nd

Was out in a mates 180 for the day (blacktop sr20det), he has it about 6 years and it was never really drifted, its his everyday road car.

I noticed while driving it today that it was a bit sticky going into 2nd and only 2nd, after about a half hour out driving it glided in no bother. The clutch does seem to engage close to the floor but its like that in my own car and as i said its only 2nd gear so doubt its that.

It sort of has two sticking points when shifting into 2nd, but no grinding noise although if you shift fast, you wouldnt even notice.

Just wondering what ye think it might be, it hardly just needs an oil change? he said it was done bout 20k ago

Anyway, any advice or opinions welcome

Mine is the exact same, hard to select 2nd when the car is cold but after 10-15 minutes of driving its like the box warms up and its perfect.

my opinion is syncro is starting to wear....try change the gear oil..ya might get away with it..but they love grateing second gear so it sounds like syncro

thats wat i was thinkin but i def would know f all about it, what would that mean to be fixed?

not sure on cost of replacing syncro i'd only be lying if i said a figure...but if ya need a box i've one there for 200 that is minty mint car still drivin at moment but not for much longer as engine sold i must take it out during week

if not box out and change syncros....
