    Default Mx5 ights

Bought an mx5 mk1 there and left it parked up for a few days, went back to it today and had to jump start it and the lights kept popping up and down and then the warning lights started going on. It wouldnt stop even when I turned it off and took the key out. I left it running and it will stop for a while then all of a sudden start again. Anyone know anything about mx5's or why that would be happening?
    Cheers.

Sounds like an alarm/immobilizer system gone bogey maybe?

Yeah but if I pull the wire going to the indicators in the front bumper it'll stop for five minutes, then start again.

Then it's most likely a somewhat decent alarm, as pulling the wiring for the indicators is an obvious trick that this system is set up to work around if ya get me

I'm no alarm specialist, but it's what makes sense to me

Sounds like the motor has lost/blown the stop position/contact. Hence they keep moving, mx5 normally have power to the light motors with the key out so it keeps doing it... Have a look around the lights for the contact and wiring, may be inside a motor though. Hope that helps.

Dead on, I'll take a look. Any idea why the warning lights keep coming on as well?

Sounds like ya got an electrical spike in the system when ya jumped it.
It could have blown a relay or fried a motor.

Got round to trying a few things with the electrics.
The lights will now pop up after I manually wind them down. They will go up when I press the pop up button and when I turn on the lights. But they wont come down now.
I have heard that there is two diodes in each headlight motor and there is one for up and another for down. Unless the one for down is blown?
Anyone had any problems with their mx5's or know anything about it?
