    Better in what way?

    When comparing like with like:

    Reliability is about the same.

Power output is about the same in stock form.

The 2JZ has better aftermarket support.

    The 1JZ is lighter.

The 1JZ is a true twin turbo with far smoother power delivery, the 2JZ is a sequential set-up.

The 1JZ has a shorter stroke and freely can spin to over 7500rpm, the 2JZ redline is 6700rpm.

The 1JZ was designed to directly compete with the Nissan RB engine family.

The 1JZ engine is about a third of the price of a 2JZ. (the clincher!)

Stonie, as was said a good NA 2JZ is worth €300 to €400.

There are turbo kits available for the NA that'll push the power up to a reliable 400-450 bhp.
