Default Toyota Soarer V8 Drift Car?

Right dudes, not so much a 'technical' question but just need some advice....

Im very close to buying a toyota soarer 4.0 v8 (1uzfe) with a w57 gearbox and im wanting to obviously do my own mods and use it for drifting in UDC. Question is, just how good of a drift car could these be given their weight etc??

I just love the look of the soarers and think they make a nicer and less common drifter than the likes of s14s etc.

All opinions on soarers as drifters are welcome (and encouraged).....

    thanks in advance people!

I've a 1j soarer. Miller of a car!!.....Hard to source aftermarket parts (as in adjustable arms, extra lock etc) but i fabricated up my extra lock and arms simple enough. Weight is not that bad, but you'l need plenty of power to keep it out.

All in all i'd recommand one. they're a good solid car that are well built. so they handle well and the back end can take big BHP's.

well, im not the handiest with a welder to be fair, but will end up getting some adjustable arms etc (if u fancied doing me some up for an agreed price? lol)

I figured i can make do with 260bhp and a manual gearbox until i save a few grand for a good 1jz/2jz conversion. :P

extra lock is only a matter of drilling a hole back further in the hub for the track rod end!!!....piece of piss!!

Yeah you should be grand with that v8, there fairly torquey from what i hear!! they also have a fairly high diff ratio (3.8 - 3.9) so second gear with a w58 will be enough for most track's!!....except mondello

I'd imagine a standard V8 Soarer would be super shit would it not? Really heavy and stuff! Hence why people usually strap two big ass turbos to them

Soarers are ridiculously heavy, over 1600 kg in standard form, even a stripped out one is gonna be very hefty, don't think the v8 would have the power to get it sliding well

when you work out power to weight ratio its probly round the same as an sbody so its as much of a much really(in 1jz format),there not as twitchy as sbodys either cause there heavier so it would be easier to learn with plus a great basis for buildin on with a 1jz and the suspensions the same as jza80 supra so loads of those parts around.
