heat soak is when heat is transfered from one thing to another. Like the heat of your rad making your intercooler warmer, meaning it wont cool the air passing through it as best it can

painting an intercooler might feck up its cooling ability a bit but i cant see how it could create heat soak.

yea a painted intercooler wouldnt cause heatsoak, i get bad heatsoak in the nova as the airfilter sits so close to the exhaust mani and turbo the air it sucks in is very hot, i noticed a big difference at the last drag day just by removing by headlamp and getting more cold air onto the filter instead of hot air

hmmm so how would you get around it??
    like i sprayed the incoller,

dont tell me ive take it all off

soo in lay man tems it like haven someting hot, like a manifold near someting cold where the cold objest
cant cool down as much, which then casue more hot air or transfer into the engine

but i cant see painting an intercooler causes this?? as paint an airasol ........

Johno, the intercooler core on my car has been sprayed black now for over a year and the car has been fine. Never had more than the normal operating temperature show up on the Power FC handheld because of it. I did however make up a bodge job of a heat shield for the air filter and it dropped the running temps by 4 degrees. the turbo is right beside the air filter and the filter was just sucking in hot air all the time.

what if the intercooler piping is very close to the rad, would that make the air very hot?

depending on which side yes, the temp will be directly affected

yep say so man, like there no cold are getn in there but there be a lot of hot air which can heat up the pipe to some degrees so the air going to the turbo be slightly warm
