    Default Flat spot arrived in the 20v - WHY?

    Car was 100% then i removed the socks that cover the ITB's to test for difference - i also checked a spark plug.Car was also lowered from standard height to way low also

    engine is a low mileage BT 20v 4age .

    could any of the above cause the flat spot?

    flat spot is like a tourqe issue like 2gear 3k rpms foot to floor...

    It seems like a LEAN issue due to the open socks? up the fuel..?

    SAFC controller do me any favour up with tracey?

    iv got a GTR pump as is.

    last engine was perfect without socks?

    or just put the socks back on? ran extremely fast with them on anyway.

    20v's will never be fast But yeh, youd be surprised the differance a change in the air fuel mixture could make. throw the socks back on and see if the spot disapears again, thatl give you the quick answer!

    Big time it'l change the air fuel ratio.....! Is it mapped on a afc.....!

    had no afc on last engine and had no flat spot with it?

    is it possible ecu got used to socks and ran a lower fuel ratio?

    i can put sock back on now but dam i wanted MORE

    try disconecting the battery for half an hour, and see how it goes then.

    How dirty were the socks you took off? Do you think they could have been dirty enough to restrict air flow enough to have such an effect???

    I'd say your only noticing it more with the filters off the stacks.If anything they run richer when running open due to the ecu overcompensating for the extra volume of air .Theres a fair chance it could be a flat spot from the vvt gear not working right.........


    SAFC controller do me any favour up with tracey? safc wont do anything for a 4ag ecu

    iv got a GTR pump as is. waisted , wont make a differecne , fpr will hold the right pressure....

    ffs where are the mods? di is a joke

    kev the thing was perfect a week ago i just took off the socks and im getting this flat spot now.

    socks are pretty much new and a little dusty looking

    richer? hmmm well that would be ok but this is lean it seems.As if a clutch is slipping but without the pull when it grabs.Ill try the socks tommorow.Poxy rain.

    86 my cousin had with red top 16v on itb had an apexi afc when it came in a few year ago?

    the AFC could have just been there to keep an eye on things and not actually mapped.
