Default OMORI OIL TEMP: How to check if a gauge is in working order

I have OMORI oil temp.water temp.oil pres.rpm tacho in the car all working besides the OIL TEMP..

The lights are working perfect so its getting power but the temp doesnt move..

how do i check to see its working? multimeter?

im sure the gauge is mechanical.

    maybe its the temp sensor?

there two wires for the oil temp guage? or just one? i take it the whole unit has an earth wire an its connected, you could check it the way ya check water temp guages, earth the wire coming off the sensor, leave it all connected an get a piece of wire hold one end to the connection from the sensor to the guage and the other end to the block or a bolt something earthed. thatll give it a full voltage reading and shoot up off the guage if its working. get someone to keep an eye on guage when your doing it an tell ya if its moving, have the ignition on.

unscrew it from the block and put it into a cup of boiling water, but if its in the block now and not moving its almost definatly fucked. unless the connection between the sensor and guage is fucked. there aint much to go wrong with mech temp guages. i only checked my own one a few weeks back.
