Yeah i wasnt too keen on the barriers when i hit it in Punchestown and when i hit
it even harder at Citywest i was like ahh christ when i saw the damage but as said,
it gives the spectators something to cringe at and keeps them entertained as when
i got out of the car to make sure it was drivable i heard the commentator say

"Now if i know this guy, he'll be back out holding the whole
car together with cable-ties if it means he'll be out on track again!"

and thats exactly what i did, hammer the crap out of it
and cable tie the rest! It keeps drifting fun, its gona cost me but its somewhat worth it imo!

Could also try avoid the barriers to avoid the damage, but i know i wouldnt be going
home with the same smile on my face!

How boring is drifting as a spectator with no walls involved?
Mondello,5 mins down the road and it sickens me to have to attend round 4!

So many on here agree that its the most boring place to watch skidding!
As Jay says,Keeps things fun with the element of horror involved with the walls!

Kinda relates back to the thing of signing on that morning and knowing what your letting yourself in for,Thats the risk you run!!!

Donal for instance,That car stands him a shed load than 10k for the shell and suspension alone,Took it on the chin and said thats the joys of it!
Reality is,Barriers are a safety element and they need to stay!
    End of!

    YES I AGREE
but i really think that they should put tyres around the barrier at practice..
like in fairness there was 3 drift lines on friday
i know PD cant control the bumps in carpark.
but tyres is alot easier on a car if you hit them..
and i think what polo is trying to say is right..
tyres at the barrier.. even till they get the PROPER LINE..
im sure dennis was glad he went into the tyres that time and not barrier..
    cause it saved his car..
as if i do remember he hit a BARRIER in mondello and wrote his car off...
SORRY IF I SOUND LIKE A DICK HERE..
BUT I KNOW HOW IT FEELS TO WORK SO HARD ON A CAR ALL YEAR AND IT TOOK AWAY FROM YOU IN A SECOND..
    THATS MY RANT OVER.

tried stay out of this as much as i could because my "driving" experience is worth fuck all, i agree witht the whole go big or go home side of it, if this thread came up 3 years ago when we all had deep pockets to bur it would have been laught at by all people, "sure what an other shell" would have been the thought.
polo i agree with you on almost all your points but as i said earlier in the thread PD have a track(one decent track in the whole country) or have half the tracks available to them the BDC do so car parks are the only way be done, so a hard landing is the only way. id love to see the red/white plastic water filled barries be brought in as the clipping point but would it have the same awe factor as a steel one?

on a complete off topic note.........mick K's new sig

Current set up is as good as it gets IMO!

We'v had the water barriers for a long time, Problems:
1.Yes they do get destroyed with a big bang!
2.When not destroyed and only moved their a pig of a yoke to get back in place.. ie. DELAYS DELAYS DELAYS! Most place's we'r on a tight time schedule and goin over risks loosin the place...

    Full tyre wall:
Fact.. If you clip a tyre wall your waaayyyy more likely to get sucked in then you are if you clip a wall!!!!
Tyre barriers were put up in City West at the most dangerous impact zone so yous still had yer clipping points!

ANd finally the sheet of steel bolted on isnt a bad idea however.... The barriers arent ProDrifts to go drilling holes in, And they cost a lot of money just to rent...
How else would you attach them that would be as strong as bolting them???
Anyhing less than bolting is just too dangerous cas if it was hit hard and decided to take off n oul sheet of steel flying through the air would cut people in 2.... FACT!

Other then that what do you do????

Clipping point 10 foot from the wall????

    Yawn!

Lets face it Pd is approaching things with an Fd type style now as we no more drivers will be heading over at some stage.... May aswell get used to the wall now and give yer selves some chance...
