reversing sensor

i got a sensor yesterday for da 180sx. the one that screws into the box but its all arse ways now when i turn the car on the lights are on and when i select reverse they go out! the sensor is out of a cafiro are they different?? he says the problem is before the switch? anybody know wats up?? thanks in advance.

switch the wires around

hows it goin lad ,
sound like a bad earth,
there only a two pin connector, check for a chaffed wire running alond the box loom , and make sure the right type bulb is in the holder,and no corrosion on the parts involved.
also bridge the connector block with a piece of wire select reverse and switch on your lights,

hey man
ye i already bridged it with a wire but i didnt need to select reverse they just came on. the bulbs are the right ones. do you think maybe its a different switch?? or are they all the same?
