Default The 2011 driftireland SR86 (Mark Willis)

We decided that one driftireland skidcar wasnt enough!
So we've taken the challenge of building another one!!

    The driftireland SR86

    A little intro first!

The nut behind this wheel who i'm hoping will kick-ass is Mark Willis..
No need to go into detail but he's seriously talented in a car and
know's a thing or two about putting them together too!

His choice of wheels is an AE86 Corolla, as the lightweight compact car should prove
quite competitive once powered sufficiently, and the easiest way to do this we
figured was to replace the 16v 4AGE with an SR20DET..

We're building this car on a little more of a budget than the S14, and if it works and
proves to be some bit competitive we're going to build a better car for next year, with
a new shell and full weld-in cage!

*A quick thank-you to Dave at Japanese Performance for the engine and other bits and pieces,
and to Gem for all the hard work, knowledge and late nights!*

So carrying on with the build, here's pic's of the car before work commenced!

    Strip PLEEEEEEEEEEASE!

Gus armed with the forklift gently lifted the engine out!

We then stripped the interior of everything unnecessary

    Late night engine bay cleaning!

Willis then cut the front off the car, makes it alot easier for engine in and outs!

I then did a quick job of the arches as Willis is only running CBY arches for now!

    And the passenger side

Willis starting to cut the tunnel from the inside

And Gem went at it from the outside!

    Howya dooooin!

Gem "adjusting" the floor to take the new tunnel

    New tunnel mocked up!

And the new motor waiting patiently!

Thats what we've done so far, keep an eye out as i'll update this as often as i can..
Between this build, the driftireland 180SX repair and other things we're
not going to get much sleep in the next few weeks!

    Drifting is for life yo!
