    jsut read in my project thread that it got a rebuild by one of the lads that owned it before

    Put very simply, If its a good engine/properly rebuilt engine then it will last.

    If its not either of the above, it won't last and no amount of baffled sumps or oil coolers will prevent that.

    Yeh i understand. Im going to bank on the second option there as I have no proof of anything that was done to it so ill assume its in the poorest state and just service it, clean breathers and drive it!

    Take off the two cam covers, if they're covered in shite inside you have an engine in need of work, also the breather pipe going to the rocker cover from the r/h side of the engine is the worlds worst design and is prone to carboning up, if its blocked remove it and clean it, if you don't then it will be bye bye CA fairly quickly. The CA isnt a bad engine, the problem is that they're from a pre synthetic oil era and werent well serviced, the SR's are giving the same trouble now with big ends etc.
