    Default sr rattle from gearbox???

    just brought her out for a spin yesterday and under load ie in high gear but the bot down or even in 3rd give it some shoe and a nasty little rattle comes from the gear box ...now when the car is on idle ya can hear slight rattle and release bearing noise then when i depress the clutch it goes away also when tipping along in 3rd or dat not puttin presure on its not rattling jus said id throw this up quickly before i whip out the box see if anyone had this before

    maybe a worn shortshifter?

    maybe release bearin if its goin wen you let off the clutch

    That sounds the same as what the box does in my 180 too. More than likely the bearings are worn in your box.Thats what is wrong with mine. If it was the clutch bearing it should be noisy for a few seconds when you press the clutch but as you said the noise goes away when you press the clutch so I would be pretty sure its the first motion shaft bearings in the gearbox that are causing the noise. Its common in Nissans when they get old. Dont worry about it.First thing you do is check the box for oil. You never know it might only be low on oil and if it is top it up. Then Drive away. It will probably last for a good while once you are not dogging it to death.

    id say ur spot on der lad jus noticed an oil leak from the rear and id say its from the gear box not a large amount but over time possibly gone low il fill it up and see how it goes

    sounds like the rattle tat comes i most of them before they give up the ghost

    checked it last night full of oil so im gonna rip it out and stick in another box i have ere..make sure its ok for mondello on the 10th
