I peeeeeeeeersonaly think its going to get smaller. Events are getting worse for the fun factor, as its just a power race these days and the crowd is always DEAD.

More lads around here are getting streeto cars and shying away from track cars!

would be nice to see it be big here in ireland
WGH is absolutely definately not going to be open for drifting anymore have discussed this with management of the place due to fellas goin absolutely mick in the cars and rootin up the grass Dave doesent want to be associated with it anymore they make way way way more profit from the other sports they have there anyway!!!

IMO the 20euros entrance is very expensive it stops your average fella thinkin we'll tip in for a look ive heard an awful amount of fellas saying there going to the drifting until they find out the price.

I'm from Poland. And drifting over there means something uber cool.

In just few years it went into completely different dimension there :

There's a TV channel "TVN Turbo" dedicated to cars (and porn after 10pm) with "drift kings" programme covering nearly all drift events there.

Despite lack of money but thanks to sponsors cars range from usual tramp e30's e34's, through other BMW's with 3.5, 4.0V8, V10 swaps, even saw an s13 with BMW 4.4 lump in it WTF?. Plenty of other machinery, s13's, s14's 1jz, RB too.

There's a main full size track - Poznan Circuit plus other smaller tracks
In Poznan EDC champion (2008) Maciej Polody is running drift track days (as far as I know)
Seems like any track that can be used is/will be used for drifting. Over there it's about making place/town/region popular to bring money, sponsors, crowd and tv to the town.

Tomek on here put some nice vids recently - note sponsors on cars/tracks and crowds

No red tape/bullshit/promoting friends etc attached to all of this.

I hope it'll happen in Ireland soon as well as I'm living here and will be for the next two years.

Drifting can be one of things to break that blur of recession nonsense in this population, make Irish happy again. And keep them excited and busy, away from the depression and other problems related to it.

The fact is what is it like when it works......

yeah true. spectator entries into prodrift are too dear! its all a money game like every motorsport! if u dont have the best ur at nothing if you want to compete !

and the same with mondello! they shud not charge anyting for looking at track days up in mondello

Yeah i think the way forward is more street driven cars with more of a focus on going to the track to have a bit of craic.
There's going to be less and less people able to afford dedicated competition cars in the next few years anyway.

More drift jam type events would be more appealing to me personally than competitions. Drifting for drifters rather than spectators.

The only track that is really up for having a craic and no pressure is Goldstone. Tullow has the same attitude, but it ain't a track.

I reckon we should all up ship and head to Poland. we know the women are tasty and according to Arnie the tracks and attitude are tasty too.

Don'y know if this has been said , cant really be bothered reading back through all the pages , but I'd love to see a day where you could have it like the japs with the d1 street legal events.
Be cool to see people drifting in their road cars and not having to fork out €150 to do mondello when no one is there .
Have it as an extra event at prodrift , even just for the summer .
Like when punchestown finished , it was still bright for hours and when it was over , that was it , it was over and everyone just left .
Be good to have something to look forward to after , even for the pro's to relax and watch when they don't have so much pressure on them .
I know its a bit like the driftjam and prodrift can't do everything , it was just an idea of mine .

Agreed, Spectators are not going to pay 20euro to stand in the cold all day with no seats or coverage from the weather.

If that 20euro included a draw for a few passenger rides, that might make people feel less ripped off.

You made some really good points in your earlier post-
The lack of garden space/ garage space been given to house built in the last ten years is a joke. Nothing is safe these days so if you are going to strip and cage a car it needs somewhere safe to stay.
