offset?? can some 1 plz tell me how it works??

im looking 2 get a new set of wheels for the 180sx i want 9'' up front and 10'' on the back but im not 2 fimilar with this offset i want the wheels 2 come out and meet the arch on the front i hve 30mm wings same on the rear i want the wheel out 2 the arch but i will b getn 50mm fenders for the rear soon, can some 1 plz give me some info on wat kinda offsets i should be looking at

Basically the more negative offset the wheels is the more its going to sit outwards towards the arch usually out past the arch, A 0offset wheel would mean that the centre of the wheel is exatcly at the mounting point on the hub, Im useless at explaining things I hope that comes across ok? The more postive the offset the more of the wheel sits in the inside of the hub the more negative the offset is its to the right of the mounting point on the hub

rite i learnt something for toaday ha cheers..

but now how will i get the offset that i nead 2 get the wheels out 2 the arches? if i get 17'' 9j rim with an et30 up front wud that sit nicely on ant arch with 30mm wings? r am i all wrong ha

you need to see what the offset is on the car at the min and how they sit, but i'd say et10/et0 will have them sitting the way you want, unless you want them out past the body then its neg offset as in et -10 etc
