Thread: boost problem

  1. #1

    Default boost problem

just something i noticed while i was drifting in punchestown...
whe i upshifted from 2nd to 3rd the boost went off the clock(over 2 bar ) but then it immediatly dropped back down again...was just wonderin if my boost gauge is fooked or what
also i wasnt fully taking my foot off da throttle when i was changin up so maybe that has something to do with it???
any advice would be greatly appreciated

sounds like a big spike? try a different actuator. is it hks? or fiddle with ur boost controller, id say the boost controller if u have one could be a lot to do with it.

You'd hardly be gettin a boost spike of 1bar would ya? Doubtful tis your boost guage it would be doin it all the time otherwise surely?!

Bring it out for a lash on the road and give it full boost in 5th and see will it do it under full load then

As above - 1 bar is a bloody high spike!!
have you a boost controller fitted?
and what dump valve arrangement is on the car?

well with this boost gauge i can check what the peak boost was and it was off the clock after a lot of the runs...
i dont have a boost controller....its a recirculating dump valve
the boost gauge also tells beeps at me when its gone over a certain level of boost and when it did beep by the time a had looked at it it had gone down again so its only for a very short time

how long ago was the car mapped? if it was recently you should ask whoever mapped it to have a look at the issue. although im sure he/she would have noticed such a large spike. he/she should have recommended a boost controller. them actuators sometimes give trouble.

check ur pipe on the actuator that its ok. like jh says a good road spin will tell alot more. if thats possible.

alternatively run 2 bar boost. wohoo
