Turbo Questions......

Hey All

Well firstly let me say the gt35r i have is the bane of my life.
2 questions, firstly, my compressor housing is turning when i boost the car, which in turn is popping the intercooler piping off. Why the hell is this happening and how can i stop it??

Second, a silly question as i know the answer but am hoping some ppl will tell me otherwise, ive discovered 2 of the tips on 2 blades of the compressor wheel are slightly bent, well now one is bent and one is cracked as i am a retard and with all my knowledge of turbos i tried straightening one...........which didnt go well. So my second question is, can i still drive the car at prodrift this weekend?? Or am a fuked for life??

It sounds like your comp wheel is contacting the inside of the housing turning it and bending the blades.
Is there scoring on the inside of the housing?

No man the housing is fine.........i think i may have bent the blades removing the housing! Idiot yes.

the plastic bearing has prob gont to shit inside the tubby its a common fault on garrett turbos is she gone smokey and is there much play in the shaft if it gets too bad it could cause bearing damage if it not too bad drive away

Its a ball bearing turbo he has, other reason for housing rotation could be the ball bearings binding under load. Or else loose housing...

The Turbo is brand new, with brand new bearings..........i i havent started it since i bent the blades, some ppl say drive on, others are negative! Still doesnt solve my moving housing problem tho.

if the blades are bent lad,the turbo is out of balance,this will end in a turbo failure no doubt,from memory have you broke a few of these or is it just this one, as we have no issues with the GT35r's

Im going through gtr's to beat the band, but all DIFFERENT problems. When i say bent blades, i mean the tips slighty bent.

well lad is there any other marking on the compresser wheel like chipping of the blades, did you clean your intercooler after fitting the new turbo?

chucky ya wanna whip it off tomorrow and i'll be in cashel tomorrow nite i'll meet ya..
i'll get good old tom to look at it and see wat the craic is??
