    Stage one,
    Turbo back exhaust,
    FMIC
    Boost controller(0.85-0.9)
    1 stage colder plugs,
    uprated fuel pump,

Even with the standard ecu you should be seeing approaching 250hp from the above on a healthy engine safely for road use.

Anything beyond that(turbo, injectors etc) will require a mappable ecu.

Have a look here for the sort of money the above parts can be had for...

What is your 180? an Sr or a Ca? As said above a good intercooler and boost controller with a fuel pump will make a big difference also change the diff. If you dont want a 2way get a 1.5. Thats what i have and i have no problem in the dry.

that really sums it up. h-dev chips arent expensive and they do the boost valves too. make sure you have a boost gauge thats accurate. once you mess with boost you gotta keep an eye on it. you can pick up the other stuff handy enough these days
    i take it your 180 has a t25. for a t28 you'll need mani, elbow and downpipe i think
