Surely this won't help engine response

I was out today helping some desperate chap to fix his s14 which had lazy response. After obvious checks I pulled out the coils to reveal this:

All plugs (wrong type, 1 different than other 3) black.

ALL four coils were the same - they melted and disintegrated due to engine running without coolant (engine froze in the cold days, it took a block plug and h/g with it). Now he was wondering why the idle was lumpy (although running much better with lambda disconnected) and why the response was crap - the engine was quite smooth but very lazy to rev.

So, anybody has a set of spare coils to part with

Just so tempted to name and shame as car is currently for sale.
