Default Anyone know about turboing bmw engines ?

Iv a m50tub25 in my e36 and Iv been trying to find info on turbo conversions. So far all iv found is people saying not to bother with the vanous engine and stick with a m50b25. As for what turbo and management to use im pretty clueless. Any info greatly appreciated.

think jack shanaghan just built a turbo M3 engine for his 2015 S14
probably your best local starting point i guess.. look up his faceache page and im sure it'll mention who dont the engine work.

    Yea it's an M20b25 turbo

Problem with turboing BM engines over here is clearance issues with the steering column because they're RHD.

Ebay turbos have a pretty good reputation for turboing the 6 pot bmws so if youre on a budget ou could go with one of them. Few people over on driftworks have turboed their m50/m52s.

if you want to turbo an e36 m50 don't be afraid of the vanos system , the miller war chip with larger injectors (60lb+) and afm is designed to work on a vanos engine, if non-vanos you can use the normal aem piggyback,

as for the manifold elite developments have there own manifold for the rhd system its front mounted and low so the downpipe won't foul on the steering rack its been recommended that u use a scavenger pump with it for the oil ,

tbh if you know a good welder (I've been looking around myself) you could make the elite development style manifold cheap as its a basic log style manifold ,(if you want to go bad ass you could get a twin scroll style manifold made up)

and on a side note you need to get a thicker head gasket to lower the compression and as far as turbos majority of people use garrett gt30-gt40 seen bigger but then they are all dyno queens with narrow power bands

i will be turboeing my 329i engine with vanos this summer so I've done all the research on this lol ,

gunni in gsturing in the uk does a turn key thing but its big money
