    Default Best road track tyre!

    Right!
Ive spent the last few years building a road going 180SX circa 450 - 500hp with lots of track grip driving
and daily-ish road use in mind.
Ive had a fair few high powered cars 4WD and RWD over the years with lots of different tyres but am wondering whats peoples thoughts??????
RWD and grip have never been something i was too bothered about as i was usually just gonna kill the back tyres and therefore more worried about price on the back and maybe a set of yokohama pradas on the front end grip (grand tyre although ive heard plenty of complaints).
I really liked the Falken FK452 on an R34 GTR but the 4WD system on that car was immense to begin with
so i dont feel its a good comparison when talking about a RWD with no traction control.

Basically im looking for peoples opinions on a tyre for a high powered RWD car driving on irish roads in irish weather
with occasional track use. i dont really want to go the Toyo R888 semi slick route as i feel its gonna be too harsh to live with outside the track environment but im open to suggestion!

    Possible options;
    Toyo TR1
    Eagle F1
    Pirelli PZero
    Yokohama Prada
    Michelin Pilot Sport
    Continental conti5
    Hankook Ventus

^^^ anybody with much experience of the above??

Uniroyal rain sports best all rounder in my opinion
I used the fk452s but I found them a bit over rated I used the falken ziex and found them a better tyre but wore down very very quickly

Get good steering tyres. When things go hairy you rely on your fronts a hell of a lot more than the rears. I wouldn't spend a lot on rears. Not saying you should go get cheap crap, just pick a price point and buy the best you can get at that point... I wouldn't want to be spending more than 80 quid a rear tyre. probably more like 70 each. But good fronts i'd pay 100-140 each for easy.

That said i'm running 4 ditch finders on my s13... but with 120bhp i don't have much to be worrying about right now

    thanks for the replies lads.
uniroyals are good but are they capable of dealing with this kind of power??
you see im thinking more grippy time attack car that can drift if you so please but more so grip.
I am deffo going to put really good steering tyres on the front anyway but im trying to justify very good tyres on the back also.
no point in havin all this power and suspension setup if the tyres cant transfer the power onto the tarmac.

there are two types of eagle f1 too. similar price. one is crap and the other is fantastic. from memory, the GSD3 suck but the Assymetric are the ones you want...

I had falken 452s and uniroyal rainsports and they were both brilliant, i would pick the uniroyals for the cost. Had them on road and track.

I've achilles 123s now on the front of my drift car and they were incredible in the dry, yet to test them in the wet. Cheap from driftworks too.

Just from my experience you can't go wrong with Hankook. Serious all round tyre, K107 or K110 patterns are the ones you want for extra grip! A friend has the pilot sports on his cosworth though and won't think of anything else so they could be worth a look.

To be honest any the dearer end of any of the good brands are all going to be good!
