Default my s13 200sx daily drifter

I have been into drifting for as long as i can remember thanks to my dad. He has had his 180 for about 8-9 years now i believe. Its what i learnt to drive in and have been hooked ever since.

I was also lucky enough to go to japan with my family for a holiday and while we where there we went to ebisu for round 1 of the 2008 D1GP! Got to meet so many drivers that i have been endlessly watching in DVD's and on youtube!

Bit of car history (will be short)
My first car was a 1989 AE92 corolla. Loved this wee car! Unfortunately had to sell it as i was moving to the mainland from northern ireland.

After a while i was ready to buy another car and had to be RWD so i got myself an import MK1 Mx5. Drove it for a while but wasnt really me!

so i sold it and i was carless AGAIN! Decided it was time to get a car that i would be happy with and not get it just cause it was RWD!
So after some searching i realised that finding a clean s13 was going to be a problem! Found a few that i wanted but when came to putting down the deposit the owners backed out of the sale!

After exhausting alot of efforts i came across a completely standard s13 auto with 64000 miles on the clock so got my dad to go look at it since it was in Northern ireland! He went and looked at it and told me it was a good solid car! that was enough for me the money was transfered and i now owned a s13.

    Problems:
    It was and automatic!
My job didnt allow me to come and pick the car up for a few months! Was gutted!

so again I (my dad mostly haha) was hunting on the internet getting parts for the conversion. Got converted then i got a call i didnt want to hear! the gearbox was SH*T! Got Paul at PJS auto engineering to take it apart and tell me what was wrong because it was supposed to be a reconditioned box! The issue was whoever rebuilt it didnt clean it properly and dirt! yes dirt! was the issue. Once it was put back together it was perfect

After that i bought some BC Racing coilovers got them put in and then i came and collected the car! Drove it about for a while!

Got the diff welded by Stuart Roy off SXOC, he was a great guy and many thanks to him!

Next was to look for some wheels! The biggest issue i had was eventually i want to go 5 stud so do i buy some cheap 4 stud wheels and save up for the 5 stud conversion then buy new wheels again.
Luckily Chris Burnett had his Works VS's up for sale and the best bit was there are both 4 and 5 x 114.3

I was really happy with them! Genuine 3 piece works wheels got the front two wrapped in Nankang NS2-R's and the rears in some random landsail tyre

Got my wheels on the car! Perfect fitment no need for spacers to clear brakes or to bring the out the arch excuse the 4x4 ride hide it will get lowered when the weather gets better. Even more so when i get my hands on an arch roller. Again mine and my dads in the background.

Being happy with the new wheels and the grip of the Nankangs would be an understatement!

I got a set of BRIDE seats for the Mx5 but didnt get round to fitting them! So they sat in my parents roof space! when i knew i was coming over i ordered the Driftworks low seat rails. My early Christmas present to myself!

No time at all was taken to fit them! The seat rails where a great job! now it matches with my bride door cards and glove box

Also seen this BRIDE bag and sad i know but just had to buy it!

oh and we had snow for about a day if that but still managed to have some fun

Well had my first drift day out in the car! It was the most fun i have had!

My dad an I with the help of Slawomir Adamski got a few hours booked at Eglington which was more than enough!
So we loaded the cars this morning with enough tyres, fuel and fluids that we could possibly need then we set off! It was about an hour and a half drive.

We arrived got everything unloaded and changed the tyres!

I took my time just learning the car! Weather was raining at the start of the day then it stopped. The track was still damp. stopped for a bit to take turns just to get a few pictures (bad pictures at that) then we cracked on until our time was up.

I wore my helmet for two reasons first i spent the money on it so i was gonna use it and secondly because i had a GO PRO on it! Once i have had a look might try do a small edit but expect hands all over the place and maybe a few swear words!

Interesting thing i learnt about the car was that with ABS it stops your brakes working when your going backwards! so next thing is ABS OUT! and then more track time

Looked at some of my GoPro footage and put a small video together of some good bits Im happy with how i got on considering its my first time out on track and drifting

Let me know what you think

    ***BIG UPDATE***

Well i think its about time i updated this!

I have been quite busy the past few months as i have been in America working. Six weeks in Vegas then four

    in Virginia!

while i was out in America i seen that there was a drift event down at Vegas Motor Speedway so i had to go

Look who was there! Forrest Wang!

    and his Girlfriends car

and lots of other cool drift cars! was shocked as well i thought going to an american drift event i would

see V8's, V8's Everywhere. BUT i couldnt of been more wrong! Aparently the vegas seen is all turbo's and

JZ's which i couldnt complain about!

These cars the "STREET DANCERZ" where a group of drifters in the USAF which was pretty cool to see and

    yes that is a s14 with a R33 front!

Would also be wrong not to hire a muslce car and go on ROUTE 66 so got a Camero, was supposed to be a

Mustang but car hire place messed up..

Now on to my car So you would think that not much has happened to the car or bought for the car well.... even when im

thousands of miles away i cant help myself. Again thanks to my dad for recieving all my car parts and

sorry to my mum who had to deal with a hall full of parts! i came home to these beauties

With all these parts and the Horsham Developments stage two i should have a bit more grunt even after i

got back parts where still arriving

went to drift event that my dad was competing at when i got back here are a few pictures of him.

While I was there i bought a roll cage needed a good sand down and paint but i was more than happy with

it. Especially when i found out that it was a cusco half cage!

So i started fitting parts fitted the Blitz air filter

Just need to take the brakcet off and spray in black

Then sanding and painting the cage and drilling holes in my car... was hope i marked it out right. I wanted

to keep the car as neat and street looking as possible while i was drilling holes and rust proofing

everything my dad started cutting the holes on the rear interior panels for the cage and here is the result!

as you can probably tell i am over the moon with how good it looks (dont you just love the ebisu towel

    haha)

Now to get out on track! It is booked for tuesday and saturday so more seat time and some more

    pictures/videos coming soon

Also treated myself to some bright red Sparco racing gloves. Why? because i thought all the cool drifters

    had them!

Well Tuesday came and as usual i get nervous/excited the works!
second time out in the car and first time drifting in the dry in the car so didn't know what to expect to be honest!
left early to get there in enough time here are the two cars ready to go

I got on not to bad, was focusing mostly on entries, initiating etc wasnt to bothered about linking the track.
I put the GoPro on during my first few runs but ended up taking it off calming down a lil bit. i got on alot better in the later part of the day and didn't care that i didn't get it recorded!

In the video you can hear me rubbing when i spun, so nothing a hammer cant solve
Later on in the day it was rubbing when i was on full lock so should hopefully be sorted for next outing

Also my Gloves arrived for extra drifting points :P

Back on track on Saturday so cannot wait to get back out

Quick outside video! Need to keep it higher in the Revs coming through the corner but for a completely standard ca18 I was more than happy!

It's been a while since my last update and this is only a lil one

Last drift day was good was really getting onto the car! Was coming to the end of the day and famous last words just going to do one more lap. The tyres where starting to let go but was fun slidng about with NO grip. Just as I was coming off throttle to come into pits and to end the day my right hand tyre burst! And it burst with a Big Bang! Slowed right down to stop the delamed tyre flapping all over the place. Got out the car and I noticed the damage! Was a lil gutted at first but it's drifting!

Also a great excuse for the new kit which will be coming soon

So the car at the moment is left with my mechanic Paul from PJS auto engineering! Reason being is that I'm away again!
I wanted all my new bits fitted for when I got back so took it up to him and he is fitting my Intercooler, new turbo, manifold etc..
Yes I could of done the work myself but it wouldn't of been to as a high standard and most importantly it wouldn't of looked as good!

As usual my dad is sending me pictures of the car throughout it's stages

Bumper trimmed and looking good cannot wait to drive the damn thing

Some of you keen eyed folks might even notice that there is no more air con or abs unit! It's all GONE!
