Lightbulb Engine swap into a classic car

Just wonder cose i have some project on my mind with V8 engines
Actually im thinking to build a old volvo 242 or 240 with an V8 fitted and have 2 engines on my mind
    jaguar 4.0 v8 or Bmw V8 3.5 or 4.4L .
Both of these have similar torque which is an advantage (from 350 up to 420)
Problem is these comes with an automatic gearbox and just wonder which manual gearbox will be ideal for that conversion -should i search and find original bmw manual gearbox or maybe try different route like try to fit old supra or skyline gearbox or its a just sick idea....
all opinions more than welcome .
    Cheers

Plenty boxes to use with an adaptor plate or save a lot of hassle and find a manual box

bmw v8 comes with a manual box too.
4.0 m60 would be cheaper than the 4.4 and goes very well
