    Default diff problems e36

bought an lsd for my 318, was told it was an m3 diff that would fit straight in. wouldnt fit in so compaired sizes of both diffs, the caseing between where the prop bolts on - to the halfshafts was roughly an inch longer than the standard diff and the cups are also bigger. does anyone no what the lsd could be out of, or cud i swap the internals from the lsd to the standard diff.

318 diffs are small case differentials, 323, 325, 328 & m3 are all medium case diff's so they won't fit on the 318's.

It will fit, put the cups of your 318 diff into the m3 so your driveshafts will fit and extend prop shaft if needed the can adjust a little , may have to unbolt of your 318 diff were propshaft bolts to diff and bolt it to the m3 one , It will fit

i get ya about changin the cups, but the caseing in the m3 diff is longer than the standard diff, the 2 bolts holding in the diff behind the half shafts are a mile off...
