Default My Techno Violet M3 Individual

Only just after buying this after a couple of months looking for a clean E36 in a colour I liked to put all my Evo running gear and spare S54 into...

After a couple of sales that fell through or cars that really weren't upto scratch as all I wanted to do was fit new parts and not mess with bodywork or stupid time consuming things that needed sorting, I decided to go looking for an E46 instead as always wanted one, In one way didn't want to add yet another big project to the list for the winter months as have enough to do with building my track car and an offroader build... all behind customer projects and my other job

So bought this off Alan Opel. Gent to deal with and car is crazy well looked after by him and his friend that owned the car after him for the last 6 months before Alan was put in charge of finding a new loving home for it.

Doing a chassis rebuild on my Defender 110 at the moment so this should be a nice stable-mate once done

    '02 E46 M3 Individual

Techno voilet. Apparently one of only two or three in the country... Sods law will have 10 318ci or 320ds around the local town and city within a few weeks!

Grey leather interior with full electric front seats
    Auto xenon headlights
    Led rear lights
    Auto wipers
    Auto mirrors
    Cruise control
    Climate control
    CD changer
    Scorpion exhaust system
    Staggered CSL wheels

Only things it doesn't have really are the factory Satnav but thats out of date now and hardly ever works as everybody knows

Other thing is the Harmon Kardon sound system which is sweet so I'll probably keep an eye out for a system from a scrapped E46.

I Plans are for the time being:
Changed the plates back from bold normal font to a set of German style plates from A-Zplates
Get it a full detail. Driving a landrover for two years now has me pretty much after forgetting how to clean a car other than drive it through a river
Fix a few small things like a reverse switch (was working on the test drive... stopped when I picked it up lol), fix the central locking (only drivers door works), funny as with E30s I've never had the issue with central locking while it was the bane of everybody elses life... hopefully the fuel pump lasts now in it as never had one fail in an E30 on me either haha.
Check out the bolster support motors on the drivers seat as it seams to release you after a couple of seconds all the time if you make them nice and tight

Then onto the good stuff and stuff that's broken... but can be "improved upon" while fixing it

    CSL Carbon Airbox
BC Racing RA castor & camber adjustable coilovers
Lightweight flywheel and clutch (current clutches self adjustment mechanism started acting up the day after I got it when on a spin to the airport... probably just due to it being it's first long drive after just commuting with the previous owner)
Should have all of the above done for Japfest all going to plan

sort out a stone chip on the bonnet that was badly touched up at some point in it's life and one or two tiny carpark dings that are on it
Replace a diff input shaft seal (or just fit my 3.91cwp ),
Check and strengthen the rear floor,
Uprate the Oil pump with a VAC shaft and sprocket upgrade, machine for higher volume and replace the rod bearings and bolts with VAC coated bearings and ARP bolts for peace of mind as this was an issue on pre-03 cars but it's had it's recall done but even at that, S54s tend to eat rod bearings. I'll probably change the rod bearings every couple of years then as they are only about 150 euro so cheap compared to a 3K replacement engine!!!
Maybe a set of Shrick cams down the line with VAC cam rockers

CSL front discs and Porsche 996 calipers front and rear (have these already so just a case of making up a set of brackets or being lazy and buying a set from Rallyroad. Probably paint the calipers BMW performance yellow or something, opinions???

Maybe a Clubsport or CSL steering rack at some stage

And maybe but really on the fence about these with it being an Individual so would be keeping the originals too to change back to every so often as well by getting a CSL bootlid, CSL carbon rear difuser, maybe some sort of subtle carbon front splitter like the strassentech or even go mad with a CSL bumper and a set of different wheels like Workmeister S1s or nice set of BBSes

Harmon Kadron sound system upgrade (found a set of speakers already and they are on the way)

Any mods really will be ones that are easily reversed or at least keeping the original parts if I ever feel the need to put them back but not for a re-sale point of view as I have some sort of inability to sell a car that I spend any bit of time or effort on by getting too attached to them

Here's a few pics that the last owner took as haven't had a chance to take my own yet

Few pics with Colm's mad JZ-E46

YES!, I know my car needs a serious belt of the lowering stick but that should be sorted during the week thanks to Davy at Barrysmotorsport

Thanks lads. She's definitely a keeper anyway Alan. Apparently it's 1 of 15 RHDs made in Techno Violet so touch wood, she won't become the one that makes it 14.

So... as I had a few shillings spare and conviently can't tax it until I get the logbook which I'm sure won't arrive until after it's winter hibernation (you know how Shannon is ) I went on abit of a shopping spree over the last week or so.

Apart from already having the calipers that I was going to use on the E36 build so just need to make up the new brakets for those to fit on the E46 and get a set of CSL front discs. I'll probably paint the brembos yellow like the BMW Performance colours but I'll throw them on as is for a while and powder-coat the calipers over the winter when I decide on the colour.

Should have the coilovers later this week or all going to plan, have the CSL airbox for japfest so for now, a few pics with the help of google to give ye an idea

Picked up a few other small bits too during the week like Harmon Kadron speaker set, BMW E46 factory fire-extinguisher, boot cargo net, few tools that were missing from the tool kit and got a new set of German plates.

Also built a rep of the car on GT5. Turns out MNPIII from the R34 GTRs was the closest colour match.
Must get the resistors in my steering wheel sorted so can practice a few laps times around the 'ring with her then.... also will be funny to use by sticking a few pics up on facebook the odd time of it flat sideways around the 'Ring or Spa and everybody have a heart attack thinking I've lost my mind until they look closer
