engine noise!!!!

was in a mates 180 there to night was a very slight rattle cuming from the engine at aprox 3000 rpm and again wen it would be winding down from 5 or 6000rpm from what i could see it was coming from under rocker cover 160000km aprox on engine thought it was a normal enough noise but when i checked mine it was ok any ideas what it could be???

At around those revs its may well be the big ends....

sounds like big ends id say. the sound seems to travel up through the block on them and it sounds like its coming from under the rocker. i learned this the hard way as mine went only a few weeks ago

oh id be sayin the big ends myself mate gotta love the sr engines hehe
