cheap cars these days, road or track?
Road/track bitta both
There was a banging noise from the rear of the car so I put it up on the lift to see what the story was, turn out that the front left subframe mount had plucked through the body, this is a common problem in the e46 coupes so I said I'll stick up a few pics of the fix in case anyone else needed to sort one,you need to cut out the panel in the boo first to give you acesss to the box frame covering where the mount is located, the box section in mine was cracked also ,I cut this out too and this will show the mount which wasn't mounted to anything in mine, I took out the subframe bolt and made up a plate with a hole in it which I put on top of the subframe and put the bolt through into the mount and tightened it,I let the lift down to rest the subframe on a axel stand to make sure it was tight against the body,I welded the plate to the body in the inside and welded the mount to the plate and welded up any cracks,I then welded in a box section over this and tacked back in the original panel in the boot and sealed up where it was cut.took about two and a half hours to do,bit if a pain trying to weld in the boot like that but worth it,here's a few pics of the job
