316i engine swaps

i was told you could switch a 1.8 318 engine straight into a 316i and the gearbox and everything will fit right and i wont even need to change the ecu or loom .. anybody know how true this is? i dont want anyone saying to put in a 2.5 or 2.8 , in college,with no job at the minute and only going 18 this week yanno? .. any info?

i would say you wouldnt even feel a difference in the engines, wouldnt bother my arse personally.
