Default 318is any good for drifting?

I picked up a 98 318is very cheap, and it seems to be running very well. If I stripped weight, welded the diff and stiffened her up would she be any good in Tynagh or watergrasshill?

I know they are really underpowered but dont want to spend big money so want to try make do with what I have.

195/50s on E34 wheels on joms or FKs and fit a hydro and it'll be grand for watergrasshill even in the dry if you go hard enough. Tynagh might be tough
though in the dry and maybe not worth it considering the trip involved.

A diff out of a 316 auto might work nicely too as you might be able to make use of 3rd

Still... sort the basics anyway and see what it's like. if your enjoying it, fitting a 2.8 or even just a 2.5 is very easy after a while.

Thanks for the replies guys, I reckon I can build it very cheaply so even if it isnt good for drifting it would sell as a track day car.

I'll stick up a build thread when I get going on her
